The atmosphere was great with comfortable couches and dim lights. The restaurant's front is deceiving because the back room has a better feel to it. I did not have hookah but it smelled great and I even noticed a cinnamon smell which I've never seen on a Hookah menu before. I came for the tea and I honestly could have... More

I have not been to that many hookah lounges - and there certainly are a ton of them around nowadays - but Sultana is the nicest one I've tried. The hookah and the tea were lots of fun and reasonably priced. The one thing that was off the first time I went was the food - someone without any taste... More

Visited Sultana twice on a recent trip to NYC. The first visit was on the evening of December 29th and second on December 31st to ring in the New year! We began simply looking for a place to relax and that offered hookah. We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious Mediterranean food offered particularly the falafel. The dessert menu was... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
