We had a surprisingly fast and competent lunch at the 49er. Sometimes I base my ratings on expectations, and if that were the case I'd actually give this place a 5, given how typically miserable the restaurants are at most parks (maybe I'm cursed that way. Dunno) Anyway, at about 2pm on a mid-March weekday afternoon we were seated promptly,... More

The menu is fairly basic, but offers a good selection, something for everyone. And the kitchen is very accommodating for those with dietary restrictions, they were able to modify things for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free needs and served up something that each of us was very happy with. It's not cheap, but not expensive when you consider the remote... More

We had lunch here in February 2017. You need to know up front though that they will be tearing down this restaurant, the buffet restaurant and the general store around May 2017. If you are heading there before May however here's my review. I have a vegetarian diet and was very surprised to find a veggie burger on their menu.... More

Nothing special here. Basic cafe food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not a huge menu. Food is pricey, but that's the case all over Death Valley. If you want oatmeal for breakfast you have to get there before 7:30 am. The burger is a good luncheon choice. For the same price you can have an upscale experience at the Furnace Creek... More

Our food was very good as was the price. It was just a bit slow, but during the summer the locations to eat were limited and slightly crowded, so given that, it was not bad.

I always try to arrange to eat breakfast at the 49er Cafe when I'm in Death Valley. The menu is somewhat limited, but the breakfast is always good, the portions are large, the service is attentive, and the coffee isn't bad for a dinner type restaurant.

There aren't too many food offerings in Furnace Creek, so we decided to eat here. We had our dog, therefore we planned to eat at the tables in front of the restaurant, which wasn't even a big deal, as it was a nice February day. The menu was ok, we both got sandwiches which were okay...I had a french dip... More

I'm glad we got the chance to see this place. They are tearing it down along with the saloon and steakhouse. But they will replace with a temporary structure in the village while they are rebuilding.

I've never reviewed this low as I always look for the best but times have changed over the years that we have come here. First, the staff makes you feel like you're in East Berlin before the fall. Or, at least the staff that was there when we arrived. No friendliness, all business and little help. We were a party... More
