Terrific pastrami. Moist, flavorful, just the right amount of fat. Large portion. My friend's egg salad looked equally delicious. Pickles were terrific too.

Had a large pastrami sandwich. The meat is tender and moist. So tender it will fall apart in your hand or mouth. And its moist due to the generous fat content but this is NOT fatty pastrami. No big globs of fat here. Just tender meat. However, it was fairly mild--not a lot of pepper or seasoning. I would have... More

I had a corned beef Reuben on rye, and it was easily one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. My friend got Herschel's special, the sandwich with cole slaw and Russian dressing, with brisket on rye, and her brisket was super moist. The service was quick and friendly, despite the long line, and I can see why so... More

Had the corned beef reuben and it really was that good. It was one of the best I've eaten. Although I went for lunch, I was stuffed the rest of the day and ended up eating a very light dinner.

Simple, fun, informal, good. This is NOT fine dining, and we loved it. We stayed at a nearby hotel and wanted to try Reading Terminal Market for our late breakfast after a late night of election returns. Even though we both are trying to avoid grains and watch out diets, we opted for the Hershel's and the classic bagel-lox-cream cheese-tomato-onion... More

I love the Reading Market and I love Herschel's! They have the best sandwiches! We always head straight to the market when we visit Philadelphia.

If you have ever had glatt kosher meat - this is just like it. I don't get the lines waiting for this food. The knish was dry. While the pastrami and corned beef were moist (and looked delicious), they were mealy and disgusting. As a New Yorker, the prices were cheap, but the meat horrible. And the wait, wow! So... More

Hot with provolone. Great pickle. Mils seasons. A bit oily but goes down so nice. I'm not a coleslaw fan but it was pretty good.

Reading Terminal Market has so many choices for good eats, and while others were lining up for cheesesteaks (not a fan, bygones..), we stopped by, grabbed a seat at Hershel's counter, under the sign you see in my photo, here. Friendly, helpful young men working at the counter; if you aren't sure what you want, they will patiently explain their... More
