My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night at around 10 and the place was pretty much empty. Not that we minded. It's a nice change of pace from a NYC bar, where empty seats/tables are a luxury. I was actually able to breathe here. We only came for drinks and decided on the two samplers. Each comes... More

If you are hankering for some real and tasty German fare then this is the place. Looks small from the outside but inside there are 2 bars and an upstairs. We sat at the bar and chose a beer from their extensive beer list and had a glass of wine from their not so extensive WBTG list. Ordered food and... More

For people who love a variety of German beers this is the place to visit, If one wants an excellent German meal then he/she will be disappointed. My veal schnitzel was dry and tasted like cardboard. The spaetzle had very little flavor and the red cabbage was mediocre. My husband's pork shank was a bit overdone and the potato pancake... More

We went to Brauhaus Schmitz last weekend and we had an excellent meal. Always great and with the many beers on tap it makes for a truly great German night out. My brother in law who has travelled extensively in Germany was impressed with the authentic flavoring and asked to go back again when he is in town. This restaurant... More

After checking out the place online , my friend and I drove 45 minute, paid for parking, and walked 6 blocks only to find that the place was closed for a private party during normal operating hours. No mention was made on their website. I was extremely disappointed that they would be this inconsiderate of other patrons.

The beer list was the best I've seen in the US and can purchase some in Liter sized mugs. The food was excellent as was the service.

My husband and I took a taxi here from our convention center area hotel. We very much enjoyed the traditional german food. We both had the weinerschnitzel and beer. The schnitzel was delicious, beer was great, and the homemade bread they brought out before the meal was delicious as well. We would def eat here again

Very pleased with a recent visit to this German restaurant on South Street. I wanted to treat an old friend to dinner on a Sunday evening while she was in town. Her choice was an authentic German meal, just like her mom made. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, both in taste and presentation, and the service was... More
