As a frequent visitor to Philly, I had been trying to find the right occasion/opportunity to finally visit the #2 Trip Advisor restaurant in the city - Vernick. Spoiler alert -- I have no idea why this restaurant is less than #1, so if you lack the time and don't enjoy a long discourse on my thoughts on why this... More

All the reviews are true - it is that amazing. We did 3 small plates, a veg and then one large plate and dessert. Perfect amount of food for the 2 of us and they paced them out as courses so timing perfect. My favorites - the pocono trout - it's smoked a bit and great flavors paired with pears!... More

My husband closed his eyes when he tried the Arctic char. Need I say more? Our A+ experience began with the reservation itself, which was a last-minute decision; advised to walk in and hope for seats at the bar, we were pleasantly surprised the day of by a delightful call letting us know we made it in due to a... We had a great time here. We shared the mushroom toast and each got our own entree and then shared dessert. Dessert I didn't care much for, it was good not great. We lucked out with a last minute reservation day after valentine's day. The service was great. Our table was waiting for us and we were in and back... More

Monotonous though it is, we can only add to the plaudits for Vernick. Starting with front of house who stayed in constant contact and managed to bring our reservation forward, this was a wonderful evening. The restaurant design is industrial chic yet still homely. The waiter was incredibly knowledgable, and as for the food..wow. Chanterelle with charred eggplant, and beef... More

Try everything. We ordered at least 14 dishes and cleaned everyone. One dish was tastier then the next. Some of my favorites: On toast: chanterelles & charred eggplant, avocado & spicy radish, bayonne ham, whipped brie, Raw: spanish mackerel ceviche, Large plates: grilled black sea bass, acqua pazza, spicy broccoli & saffron. Also ordered a few of the specials. Our... More

Treat yourself to this great restaurant. Can't take table reservations for more then 4 people, but just as well. Great way to have an intimate and special dinner.

Where to start? With the appetizers, of course: beef tartar with fresh horseradish on toast, scrambled eggs with sea urchin, Island Creek oysters. Then maybe small plates of warm Parmesan custard with caramelized artichokes or chilled lobster with potato rosti, endive, mace crème fraiche, and verjus. For larger plates, consider cod with charred salsify, sweet potato, coconut-green curry & shrimp... More

Not only was the food fantastic, but the chef greeted everyone who walked past the kitchen. It was a really amazing experience. One of our favorite places in Philadelphia to eat. It is a fine dining establishment without the luxury price tag.
