We just got settled in our hotel and soon after opted to go out for a treat...I looked up desserts near by and this place showed up with vast reviews. It was cute...small...the ice cream it self left much to be desired. I have had much better....the pistachio ice cream was more peanut butter flavored than I think ought to... More

After a second day of sightseeing on Philly my birthday trip. On our way back to the hotel Penns View Inn (see my review) It was a cute place a time capsule of sorts. An old fashioned soda fountain store, I love nostalgia and a great place for ice cream. I had a cup of chocolate ice cream, my husband... More

It was December 11, 36°F and following a strict diet, yet we could not resist to go and try their ice cream. And boy did we enjoy it! Well worth the extra calories that we burned anyway meandering our way through history and architecture in Philadelphia. The vanilla fudge is to die... and resurrect if ordered with double fudge 😉

After watching Man Vs Food on TV and watching the episode where Adam visits the Franklin Fountain we decided to try it out. The best ice cream we have any eaten. The servings are huge and the quality is amazing. When your in Philadelphia this place is a must visit.

The setting is fabulous with much of the historical feel of the building retained. The ice cream range is incredible, the quality superb and you can really taste the flavours. Very goof value and generous portions, we loved it. You must go.

Want to relive/experience ice cream history? Then this is the kind of place you just have to visit. Not only is it a step back in time but they serve some of the best ice cream to boot! A must visit.

Awesome ice cream parlor. Atmosphere feels like you are in the 1950's. Music, people's outfits and displays. They offer gluten and dairy free ice cream that is delicious. Made with coconut milk, flavors change. Also ices are available. A list of ice cream is listed on wall. Fun place to visit. Open late! Don't miss! Right next door to chocolate... More

Stumbled upon this place while looking for parking on south st while on vac. Very good ice cream with one of kind creations. Very nostalgic little shop it fits its name as i think it was a fountain shop a long long time ago.. Hey when is ice cream ever bad anyways, never haha. Parking may be your only issue..

Stepping into the Franklin Fountain is like stepping back in time to a day when ice cream was homemade and the service was supreme. I enjoyed the Franklin Mint sundae, which was delicious. It has a small sitting area for eating so they have outdoor tables. It was worth getting chilly to experience.
