Have lived within 20 miles of the Dobbin House and have been going there (mostly in the off season) every sense Merle (RIP) was the long time Bar Tender. The Dobbin House Tavern (in the basement of the building) is my choice for good food and excellent drinks in an atmosphere of a bygone era. We are talking stone walls,... More

Food is always great and service is fantastic. The basement bar and eating area is like your back in 1865 .

Unique location for a dinner and drinks. Hospitable service, good sandwiches (particularly recommend hot beef). A bit loud (echo-y) but quite cozy (stone walls, lots of candlelight, etc.). Stairs to enter. Kids OK. Has gift shop...look for coupons in merchant's association booklet for shop. Walkable from Steinwehr Ave hotels.

Dobbin House is one of our "must-stop" eateries in Gettysburg. The service is always friendly, the food is fantastic, and the colonial ambiance makes it "homey." Try the Adams Delight, which is a fruit/cheese/sweetbread appetizer plate!

Quaint cellar tavern/restaurant. Period fare and drinks, overall a charming place to spend a couple of hours.

We love historical places so we certainly fell in love with this place. In addition the food and service was excellent. They have done a marvelous job in maintaining the atmosphere of colonial times. A great dining experience.

Atmosphere is great- love historical aspects of tavern. Menu was average-food was good. Staff were friendly. It's a small place with no reservations. Busy on weekends.

I got there a bit early so I toured the gift shop and there was a lot of handmade items and neat little things for Christmas gifts. The food and service were wonderful, the french onion soup is something I recommend.

The Dobbin House is the place to go for a very nice dinner in Gettysburg. You can read about the history on their web page, but you feel it as soon as you walk through the door. We had dinner there on December 30th, and it was cold outside. Just inside the door, we were greeted by a wood fire... More

We were last here in 2002. At that time we had a great dinner in the dining room. This time we went to the tavern and had another great meal. Very atmospheric with great service. And there is a gift shop to pass the time while waiting for your table.

Thank lannyr
