If your attending one of the night programs at the Nash Visitors Center this place comes on very handy. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, salads, snacks and drinks available for purchase. Prices are reasonable.

We decided to eat here before the Star Party rather than trying some place in town and we were all happy with our meals (chipotle chicken sandwiches and quesadillas). We weren't expecting anything spectacular...friendly service and clean eating area. If going to the observatory, I would eat here rather than in the town of Ft. Davis.

This cafe in McDonald Observatory looks like a little "microwave frozen food" cafe. I got the avocado tacos. 3 tiny tacos that seemed fresh & very tasty. Our group also got chicken tacos- 3 tiny tacos that were reported to be fresh & tasty, & a grilled cheese on ciabatta (the ciabatta seemed fresh). The windows look out on a... More

When at the Visitors Center you will be missing out if you don't try something on the menu of this fabulous little eatery. Surprisingly big menu to choose from. Very friendly folks doing a great job.

We had gone to a star party, and had a quick dinner here. We had quesadillas, tacos, and a Reuben sandwich. All of the food was fresh, and the shredded red cabbage instead of lettuce was very nice. It was a very nice surprise. The prices were good, even for being so far out.

They do have a limited menu, but it was tasty. I appreciated that we didn't have to eat in town and then drive out to the site. We could eat there and sit outside to enjoy the weather, the hummingbirds and the food...

Part of the McDonald Observatory. It is an ok place to eat since this is the only place available on site. My wife had a salad the she said was really good.

For the type of cafe it is, it was okay. Prices are steep. They allow you to bring your own picnic but you gave to sit outside.

The Star Date Café is not a full service restaurant, but we knew that when we decided to give it a try. We arrived about an hour before the Twilight Party and had no trouble ordering or getting our food in a timely manner. The menu is limited consisting mainly of chicken, roast beef, grilled cheese, or brisket sandwiches. They... More

When there is only one place to eat, you sometimes do not get great food. This is an exception. The sandwiches were inventive, and the chili cheese dog was right on for those less adventurous.
