Four of us were staying at the Westmark and were happy to find a restaurant with reasonable (for Alaska) prices. The food was average and way too much smoke came through doorways and a window from the bar area. Our server, Angel, made the experience much more enjoyable than it might have been. On the whole, we were happy with... More

We were in Fairbanks, overnighting in the Westmark awaiting the land tour portion of a Holland America Cruise. The hotel restaurant was pretentious and overpriced, so after checking the reviews here and a personal check of the menu, we entered Iris. The restaurant is physically attractive, but the solo server was completely clueless. I asked for a draft beer, and... More

We wanted just regular food -- nothing exotic -- and found it here. The menu is typical diner with a couple daily specials. Prices were good for Fairbanks and service was friendly. Smoking is allowed in the bar area and tends to drift into the restaurant; that would be my main concern for allergy sufferers.

We went to this restaurant as others did, because it was close to the Westmark. I had read some reviews about the smoke in the room because of the attached bar. They seem to have an air filtering machine in the restaurant part. I didn't smell any smoke. There were people in the bar smoking though. You have to go... More

First night in Fairbanks and we were tired but didn't want to eat the hotel food. It was the typical stuff. We look to go and hit the local experience. We found it at Iris's. We saw the daily special on the sidewalk chalk board out front - Pork Chop Special. It didn't appeal to us but it make it... More

Adequate food offerings.....best part was the short walk (across the street) from the Westmark. Our waitress was in training, but owner?/Manager? kept checking to make sure we were happy.

We were staying at the Westmark hotel next door and needed to find something close. I did not get to visit the kitchen, but I'd bet my last dollar that all one would find there is a can opener, a fryer and a microwave. Good: staff is okay. Bad: the food. Dining room smelled of cigarette smoke. Expensive too. We... More

Sorry that your meal was not up to your standards. Bases on our many other positive customer reviews of the food from the Iris Cafe' I can feel confident in stating that a bad meal is not the the normal and most customers are very pleased with the food. Again sorry for your bad experience! More

Like many bars in Fairbanks, the Iris is not for the feint of heart. The food is reasonably priced if you can handle the cigarette smoke. While this place isn't for your average tourist, it is definitely a place to get a no frills drink and take in the local color.

Popped in for a few beers. Wive had a very good spiced cider. Food smelled good and friendly service. Probably a very nice local.

The restaurant was across the street from our hotel so was convenient to walk over for lunch. The food was good and better pricing than at our hotel. Service was okay, though we seemed to have 2 servers and neither one was sure who was taking care of what. The restaurant has a bar with a wall dividing it from... More
