Fantastic Italian food. The old school Italian restaurant has great meatballs and entrees are all outstanding. Great wine selection and the desert is outstanding. Expensive but worth it.

Chosen by our son in law as the venue for his birthday celebration (well, the one we were invited to) this renovated establishment based on an old Brooklyn restaurant offers excellent fresh pizza, not the 'Coke and Slice' kind. That it is a favorite amongst a huge choice of local eateries for our daughter and husband who visit often says... More

The oldest restaurant in Brooklyn... a great place with history and atmosphere. We came in for a weekday dinner on a night that was not at all busy. We sat at the "rat pack" table. We started with arrancini, a pizza and some salads. Everything was delicious. After starters we had veal, and pasta dishes. Everything was cooked perfectly. It... More

Monte's has been around forever and it should stick around. The pizza is delicious and served on a raised long contraption that makes it fun to eat with a group. Other dishes are old school Italian and tasty.

This restaurant is rather popular so the food must be pretty good. I had a pizza, salad and some broccoli. I wasn't thrilled with any of these items. My family seemed to really enjoy their pizza-- so maybe it was just an off-night for me. So I need to return and order some of the other items on their menu... More

This was my first visit to Monte's. I took my girlfriend for her birthday dinner and we had a wonderful evening. The restaurant has a nice ambiance to it, but more importantly, our dinner was delicious. The service was great and I haven't experienced such an attentive staff in quite a while. They aimed to please! My girlfriend was surprised... More

We traveled from Massachusetts, and stayed in Brooklyn for 3 days. We ordered take out 2x from this restaurant. I cannot comment on the atmosphere of this restaurant, as we had the food delivered to a near by hotel that we were staying. The food was excellent. We ordered mussels, baked clams, the Quattro formaggi , and prosciutto and arugula... More

Monte's proudly notes that it is one of the oldest restaurants in the city, founded in 1906. It is located on a side street in Gowanus, a mostly industrial neighborhood near better-known Park Slope. If you want a taste of old-school Italian, Monte's is the real deal. It exudes charm but is not really old-fashioned. It has a great menu... More

IMPORTANT to note that they only take CASH or AMEX (seriously...) which we did not discover until we saw the menu. That definitely limited our choices based on cash on hand. Food was delicious, old world Italian with large portions. Service was friendly and attentive. Ate in the outdoor garden in back and it was nice on a warm summer... More

I was born and raised in Brooklyn and still live there, a few doors away from Monte's, and I realized on a recent visit that I'd never written about what a gem this place is. When I was growing up Monte's was a special-occasion restaurant, more of a nightclub, but by the late 1990s it had become a shell of... More
