Tavo is more of a upscale Soul Food Restaurant. My first going I was very pleased with the with the food and quality style of the restaurant. I really enjoyed the fresh veggies. The second time I went to Tavo the visit wasn't so positive. The food was still amazing when it finally came. Understand, that they were pretty busy... More

After trying to contact the restaurant for two days (line busy, website down) we finally were able to make a reservation. As usual the place was empty (one other couple in to building). I've always enjoyed the food here but today is was too salty. The greens were almost unbearable and the chicken was also too salty. The new a... More

While attending The National Black Theater Festival, someone told us about the PART to Greensboro. My roommate & I wanted to visit the civil right museum. After the museum, we stumbled upon TAVO! Great buttermilk fried chicken, mac & cheese, collards & peach tea. We'll be back for a visit when we come back to the festival in 2017.

First of all, Tavo is a very good restaurant. Dinner menu choices are varied and solid American cuisine. The wine list is above average. This is a huge restaurant that can accomodate large groups like a college graduation.I have been here before for dinner and really enjoyed it. Lunch is a bit of a differnt story. I should have eaten... More

My niece and mom had visited Tavo earlier last month and RAVED about the food and service (my mother loved the fish)..anyway, this was the chosen spot for MOTHER'S DAY... My daughters live in Raleigh (NCSU), one graduated on Sat, and they drove up from Raleigh to meet us as we drove from WS. Our reservations (12 people) were for... More

Service was poor, with the exception of the hostess. I had to ask twice to get a napkin and waitress never did get my drink correct. Food was very salty.

We went for lunch and thought the prices were a little stiff for lunch but decided to try to cheesesteak for approximately $10. It was the worst cheesesteak I've ever tried to eat. It was actually a piece of grisly tenderloin that was about a 1/2 inch thick. It was almost impossible to try to gnaw your way through this... More

I've been to Tavo a number of times and the last few times have really turned me off from returning. My last visit there was a group decision so I had no choice. The food took over an hour to come out and my food was cold! Ordered my usual blackened salmon with sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. The size... More

The wait staff, bar staff, and management were all terrible. The worst restaurant experience I've ever had. About 15 of us went to Tavo for an anniversary dinner. The location is great being right on Elm St. downtown inside the Kress Building. The restaurant is beautiful, loved the huge entry doors. When we were seated, we discovered that our waitress... We were looking for somewhere cheap to eat in Greensboro and somehow stumbled upon Tavo. What a surprise this is! From the outside its fairly plain looking and then when you walk in you suddenly end up in this gigantic ballroom with tall ceilings, chandeliers, black and red flock furniture and paintings! Would never have guessed how beautiful it would... More
