I stay in Madison weeks at a time, people here took me to this place. Never knew the place so I would've never gone here. Had a GREAT time met new people. Loved the curds and fish. I prefer cod which was done just right. Home town bar and across the street is a nice grocery store.

As high as the expectation - as deep is the disappointment. Very small place and as it's locally famous - it show no justification for it. Simple - very simple - too simple standard "friday fish fry". No reason to wait so long without be able to seat. I will not be back

Read about this little spot online, had to check it out! The employees were friendly and the burgers are super juicy! Made from fresh meat from the butcher across the street at the market! Excellent value for the money- it's a must stop if you're craving a good juicy burger!!!!

If one of your friends wants to see what a Wisconsin tavern looks like, take them here. The Friday fish fry is excellent. The service is friendly, to the point of being almost nurturing. The beer list is limited, but they did have Velveteen Habit on tap When we visited. When we were there, a like old lady lost her... More

I will start off by saying, this is a bar. It's not a supper club, or really even a "restaurant." It is a friendly, somewhat worn and dated, oftentimes crowded, sometimes hard to find a place to park, but it is a wonderful bar! And, the food is delicious. There are a lot of "regulars," who welcome the "visitors." Chances... More

If you are "into" local bars where real locals meet and eat, this is the place for you. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced. The service is efficient and friendly. The place is family friendly with highchairs and a children's menu. It is not unusual to see grandparents there with their grandchildren. This tavern serves excellent food. The... More

Have to admit that this is one of the great burgers in greater Madison Area. Friendly little neighborhood tavern and staff with some great specials. The Wed and Fri night perch fry is lights out. Can get crowded on those nights so call ahead to order but it is worth the wait and price.

A Middleton friend recommended Oakcrest and we saw why! The grocery across the street is where the meat for hamburgers is bought, so you know they are fresh! The sandwiches were great and the beer was cold. Our server was very friendly and attentive.

This is a great place for a burger and a beer and unfortunately the owners are not enforcing the no smoking law in all Wisconsin bars and restaurants. The ownership should truly be embarrassed as my wife and I left as people in different areas were smoking. I'd like to understand how this can happen!!! Truly disappointed and won't be... More
