My husband, son and I ate at the new Muramoto downtown last Saturday. This was their second week open with this being their second location. They don't take reservations and we decided to wait. It took well over an hour and we ended up having to sit at the sushi bar, which was loud and difficult to hold a conversation... More

Husband and I had a very nice dinner here on a Friday night in August. We had made a reservation, but when we called to confirm there was confusion on the name... which meant they couldn't confirm it was us. That being said, they gave us the choice of a high-top bar table or the sushi bar - we chose... More

Restaurant Muramoto has always been a favorite, but recently they have begun to offer specials. I recently had their "Rahman Special," which was served in a bowl with liquid similar to a Korean Bibimbap. It consisted of a generous slice of pork loin, egg that was still a bit fluid, and several other ingredients. It was served piping hot and... More

We stopped in a bit later than normal at 9pm. Not very many people there and had our pick of spots. We had some cocktails and sake along with a great roll called viper roll. That with a few pieces nigiri sushi - very good yellowtail, tuna, and salmon roe. Presentation was lovely and service was very good.

Have been coming here since they opened in their old location (almost a decade ago). The best food and staff and ambiance with a diverse, unpretentious atmosphere.

One of the best places for authentic sushi in Madison. They also have another location - Cafe Muramoto in Hillsdale that is the best!

I tried a new entree at Restaurant Muramoto and really enjoyed it: Coconut Shrimp. Served up with the usual sides of Asian Slaw, rice and Miso Soup, this lunch offering includes ample shrimp, peanuts, red onion and bell peppers for a spicy dollop of tasteful sublimity. Service is always good and the pricing still a steal. Recommended.

What a nice dinner date spot. I accidentally confused this place with "Red Sushi" which is back up King Street - glad I did! We had a wonderful dinner - edamame, sushi, hanger steak, and beignets. Seriously, I have never had a better cut of beef in Madison. It was delicious and I've been telling everyone about it. Can't wait... More

We went to Muramoto for lunch during the week last week. There was a decent crowd but it was not crowded. Our server as friendly and attentive, although not quite sure of the menu. My dining partner and I ordered the Chef's Choice and the Your Choice combo which includes a vegetable roll, a fish roll, and a inside out... More

Small plate Asian fusion from a new perspective. Shinji Muramoto's flagship restaurant first opened its doors in 2004. It was, and continues to be, the realization of his creativity and his passion to bring new flavors to Madison. Here, Shinji offers his interpretation of the comparatively young style of cooking that is Asian fusion. It is his belief that this style of cuisine is best experienced in a small-plate format, as it promotes sharing and therefore creates the likelihood that his customers will attempt new things.
