We saw it was a longer drive than we wanted...back over the river, down the street, kind of out of the way. But we did it. And it was totally worth it. CASH ONLY. I got the three scoops (and they are BIG scoops) and he got two scoops in a cone. The flavors were delicious. The texture was creamy.... More

You could argue that Bracoto's is as good, but that's gelato. For real ice cream there is no alternative in town.

Saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and had to stop by (2 times)! The ice cream is all homemade and the variety of flavors are fantastic! The prices are good and the staff are nice. Tried a sampler boat each time because it is so hard to choose just one! The salted caramel is divine, as is the... More

Rich, authentic ice cream with exotic flavors in addition to standard ones, great and varied toppings. Nice family owned business.

If you are in New Orleans and you like ice cream, you have to go to Creole Creamery to enjoy one, or a few, of the many delicious flavors of smooth and creamy ice creams or sorbets they are serving that day. They have all the traditional favorites, like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, for those customers who prefer staying in... More

This is the 2nd stop on our Friday night date every week - pizza, then Creole Creamery. They have traditional flavors as well as unusual ones, and flavors change week to week. They always have one of my favorites though, like cafe au lait. Note: both locations are CASH ONLY.

Get the Praline ice cream or the Creole ice cream! It's a New Orleans institution and should not be missed.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
