This is an experience if you go to the original shop. You will get great and fun service, excellent chicory coffee ($2.73) and a set of 3 beignets smothered in powdered sugar. We sat outside at night, and enjoyed the XMAS lights of Jackson Square!

Beignets and hot chocolate! I was here on business and my colleagues and I ate here 3 nights in a row.

Because of the number of items that have to be prepared they quality leaves a little to be desired. The lattes are only warm not hot but the number of people that accommodate is astounding!

The beignets were great. We went on a rainy day so it wasn't too busy. If you want souvenirs there is an official gift shop across the street.

Saw a super long line on Decatur St, so we went to the take out window by the street car stop and ordered from there. Much better experience that way. Coca tasted like Swiss Miss, and the beignets were what I expected, a glorified funnel cake. Considering the fame of the place, I was pleased with the pricing.

Du Monde is always a stop while in NoLa. I prefer going at night because the daytime is chaotic. There are a couple places nearby with chicory coffee and beignets that are just as good without the big daytime/evening crowd.

Such an amazing place for the overseas tourist to visit, right in the heart of Nola, New Orleans. Just drop by for beignets and coffee or a meal. The atmosphere is amazing, live music in the streets or outside the cafe, real food to taste a bit of the south. A must...

Cafe Du Monde is an open air, covered patio that serves melt in your mouth beignets covered with powdered sugar. The coffee is served as ordered, but you haven't lived until you try their specialty coffee, cafe au lait! It is absolutely a must to try when you visit New Orleans! A taste buds Heaven and ours too! Go across the road to Monty's and get good service and delicious bignet fries. Even though the signs say "please wait to be seated", we were yelled at by one of the servers to sit anywhere. Tables are dirty and gross. Sat down and waited to be served, no one came over, we left after 5 mins without eating or... More

What can I say? This place is an institution- I can't tell you if these are the best in town because there never seems to be a good enough reason to try another - I always wind up back here- def worth going to on any type of trip 😄

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
