Carmo's food did not disappoint it's hype. They really do a great job with internationally-inspired comfort foods done up with a little bit of glamor. The Brazilian fish stew came strongly recommended, and it was even better than I could have expected. Where this place...More

About 10 blocks from where we were staying and we had some trouble finding Julia St., but it was worth the trip. The restaurant has a bohemian laid-back vibe. We sat at the bar and ate their daily soup with the Rico dish, and a...More

I love finding delicious vegetarian meals in meat-heavy cities and this place does not disappoint. I only wish there had been bigger portions.

My wife and I are vegetarians. We made a reservation for a dinner (reservation highly recommended). We were absolutely stunned. Very delicious and wide variety of menu items. We ended up going there again twice after that visit to try all their offerings. Their cocktails...More

The food we shared, all family style, was great and tasty, the service was friendly, but the bar could not keep up on a busy night. Since it is a hot place, full of people, the space got hot and we needed drinks but had...More

Most places, vegetarians like us only have a few options to choose from - but Cafe Carmo had an entire menu full of options that could be made vegetarian or vegan. The drinks were also delicious, if a bit on the sweet side. A tropical...More

Where to start? Three of us ordered table platters and feasted on Esmerelda (quinoa) salad, grilled plantain pancakes with wild boar, shrimp and mantou (Chinese bread) in the most delicious chili sauce, Brazilian cheese-bread balls, zucchini chocolate chip cake, banana cake, rum, and atmosphere. The...More

The staff was helpful and answered all my questions. I enjoyed every bit of the Esmeralda Salad! I also had zucchini, chocolate chip brownie that would put any "normal" brownie to SHAME!

Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other
parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title
might suggest that this area is all about business and
little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you
away from the Central Business District. The CBD
offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be
touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the
world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts

The menu is built upon the rich, multi-cultural culinary influences found throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, West Africa, Southeast Asian, Gulf South and beyond and features eclectic and traditional/traditionally-inspired dishes with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, as well as unique and little-known flavors from around the world. Exotic fruit such as juice of the cocoa fruit (cacau), cupuacu, graviola (sour sop), caja and caju infuse Carmo's juice and cocktail menu with exciting new flavors.
