We stopped in on a whim as we were driving down St Charles Street just to look at the sites. We kind of got off course and were driving all over the place but very hungry. We saw the sign out front for the Irish House, as well as the banner reading that the chef there had one am episode... More

This is really a cool pub in an old building in the beautiful garden district, just down the street from the Queen Anne Hotel. An easy walk and just right for all things Irish - food, drink and atmosphere.

The food at the Irish House was fine, but they certainly couldn't handle hosting a large business event. We were all seated upstairs for our event, and it was incredibly hot. Factor in that the men were wearing suits, everyone was in a nice layer of sweat. Someone (I'm assuming a manager) stated that they were trying to get the... More

Called to make a reservation and "Kat" told me it was not necessary for 2 people. Arrived at 6:45 and was told it would be a 20-minute wait. At 7:15, I asked to speak to a manager and was told it was Kat. She told me we had to wait until all reservations were seated; I told her I had... More

We love this place. The food and ambiance is wonderful. The fish and chips are great. You feel like you are in a true Irish Pub.

This place was the bomb. Holy cow. Get the Clover Chicken. You had to eat all of it it was THAT good. Even though it was painful to finish and a few pants buttons had to be opened.

I this is an awesome little pub on St. Charles St. The decor is nice and I'd say locals frequent it often, it's in the Garden District and was less than a block from my hotel, (how convenient). The service was great, and the food was on spot! I had the duck salad. Full of flavor! Prices were reasonable! If... More

We have visited The Irish House several times, as a couple and with friends. Each experience is different. On this occasion, the gloomy receptionist dressed in black wanted to seat us next to the drafty door in an otherwise empty restaurant. We protested, stating we would like to be actually "in" the restaurant. She said we would have to wait.... More

We took the trolley line all the way to the end so we could see the large older homes along the way. Then we returned and stopped at the Irish House for a drink and lunch. Great bartender there. I split a corned beef sandwich with my cousin and several other people had the shephard's pie. It looked really good.... More

Loved this place. Not fancy but good Irish food and drink. The shepherd's pie was one of the best I ever had. Definitely get the Irish coffee with the infused Irish liquor; it is out of this world

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
