Just visited this place in our Anniversary trip to New Orleans. We ordered the blackened gator bites and they came out COLD. We sent it back and asked for fried instead so they won't just re-heat them in a microwave. Fried one came out and they were even colder. How is that possible? 2 cold Appetizers in a row? That... The food was good and decently priced. We were hoping to get a balcony seat and when I politely asked if we could be seated up top we were told that we should have said something when we first got there as if it would be too much of an inconvenience (mind you we had literally just sat down and... Was on my own for a bit in New Orleans and was searching for a decent and reasonably priced venue to dine. The gentleman with a menu outside the entrance convinced me to give it a try. Was seated by the window and totally entertained by the lively pedestrians on Bourbon Street while I enjoyed gumbo and blackened shrimp over... More

Was in town for the day and the family wanted some N'awlins food, so when I saw the name and the good reviews I figured we would try it. It's a small restaurant. They do have a bar, but there is alot more eating space than bar space. Our waitress was very nice and did a good job. I had... More

I think that this restaurant is a neat place and the service was pretty good as well. The food was alright in my opinion. I got the seafood gumbo and the BBQ shrimp. Both pretty good and good size portions. Good stop to say we have ate there before but I will eat at one of the many other places... More

We chose Olde N'awlins Cookery simply because of all the restaurants on Bourbon street with lines on the sidewalk this place had the shortest. Even then for a Sunday night the wait was 35 minutes. Family of 4 ordered red beans and sausage, crab cakes, shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and the Taste of New Orleans dish. None were anything super unique... More

Not much curb appeal and were not expecting much. Quick lunch on Fat Tuesday. Good oysters and tasty gumbo. Don't let the bar "dive" atmosphere fool you. Fast service, good value, and good food. This was a pleasant surprise.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
