The food is good and the services is excellent, but I don't know why they're not busy. Oh and the price is good also.

We stumbled upon this having arrived late in NOLA our first evening. We had no reservations and this location was fairly empty. The restaurant itself is large, clean and the staff courteous. The prices though are somewhat steep. The menu is very limited but every dish seems to be extremely good. Their poboy's use a seasoned corn meal mix that... More

We went here twice and both days the place was literally empty. We were seated prompty but after our order was taken the waitress disappeared. The buffet was small but had the requisite food you would expect.. However, it was comparable to the freebie breakfast at Springhill Suites. There were scrambled eggs and bacon, a varied of breads, fruits, yogurt and... More

Since Rene Bistrot is part of the Renaissance Hotel where I'm staying, I've had breakfast daily at the bistrot during my 5 day stay. The food is pretty decent. While I can vouch only for breakfast, Rene Bistrot offers a variety of fare with local flavors - options like Andouille Crawfish Benedict to traditional continental breakfasts that your normal associate... Stopped in for a late lunch. Ate in the adjoining bar area called Palette . Had the best chicken and andouille gumbo with jasmine rice we've ever tasted. Profiteroles were made with ice cream and were good. Food was nicely presented.

This bistrot is part of the Renaissance Hotel but the menu looked good so we walked in. We ordered starters and entree but when the starters arrived, they were so huge we cancelled one or our mains. Food was really tasty. Service was a bit patchy but it was a quiet night - how they would have coped if it... More

Don't get the Chicken Andouille Gumbo. Too thick. Tastes like soup with bad rouxe. Smoked salmon app. Not good either. Was hoping for a better wine list too. Won't return. So glad it wasn't my money paying for the tab!

I stayed at the Renaissance Arts Hotel and this restaurant is attached. I thought I'd run in and catch breakfast before an appointment. I saw they had a small breakfast buffet set up so I wanted to order it. I couldn't find our waitress and the place definitely was not crowded so I thought I'd just go up and help... More

Had dinner after walking around for about an hour looking at menus We were looking for something that was not fried, was not a Po Boy and something that had no cheese, preferably seafood. Found exactly what we were looking for. Good food, good wine, great service. Get out of the French quarter and bourbon st, eat well - eat... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
