Found this place overrated. We got 3 po boys: the ham, the turkey and the lamb. The lamb was not good. Just no spice or seasoning to the meat. The turkey and ham ones were just ok. Milk shakes were nothing special. Prices were a bit high. You can do a lot better in NOLA.

The Milk Bar is a small restaurant in Uptown. They serve salads, sandwiches, and milkshakes. It is more of a lunch place and the milkshakes are decent. I ask for a chocolate banana shake (it isn't on the menu) and it was good. Order at the counter and they bring you your food.

They have two kinds of sandwiches, both made hot: Ciabatta bread and Po Boy style. At our table we had a smattering of both. Shrimply the Best was popular, and the Speared Pig was too. Food was a little slow to come out - 11 minutes for the first sandwich and 15 for the last. Nobody got a salad or... More

I wish The Milk Bar still had location near Touro on Delachaise. Get the Christmas in July sandwich, excellent!

Came here with my daughter for lunch during our trip for her move-in to Loyola University. We planned to eat at the Camellia Grill but didn't want to wait, so we stumbled upon The Milk Bar a couple doors down. We were happy we did. It's a cool, quirky, friendly place. Great sandwiches, and my daughter said the milkshake was... More

Really nice place with a friendly atmosphere. We were five adults and we all chose different and delicious sandwiches. Everybody was happy, and we all had to a ask for boxes, since there was so much food. The tram stops next to the cafe, and there are several shops nearby that'll satisfy the young at heart.

I have driven past The Milk Bar countless times and even remember when it first opened, but never tried it until the other night. Boy, have I been missing out. They specialize in sandwiches, salads and milkshakes. I only had a sandwich, but it was awesome, so I suspect everything else is also. The menu had a dozen or so... More

Got the Shrimply the Best sandwich...wow it was fantastic! Loved the pesto and that bread was heavenly. They sandwiches are big and I wish my appetite had been bigger or that I shared a sandwich because my bed and breakfast didn't have a fridge to take the rest home.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
