The line at the yummy, but tourist-infested beignet place (you know the one) was all the way down the block, so we decided to venture out. To our surprise, this restaurant is only a 2 minute walk and we were served right away. The beignets were amazing. They are a little lighter - not as dense as the others, which... More

As a Canadian, this pastry reminded me of a beaver tail (deep fried pastry) we have back home. I thought they were delicious dipped in the icing sugar and you can't go wrong with the price of a $3 for 3. I think these are a must try for a local favourite. Keep it mind they are a PASTRY and... Made a quick stop for a mid morning snack. We arrived close to opening so there was no wait and the beignets were hot and fresh. I must say as one of the reviewers I prefer these to Cafe Dumonde. Not that theirs is bad because they are not. I eat those too. I feel these are a little lighter... More

Wow, this place was great. Had to wait a few minutes for them to make the beignets but they were absolutely delicious. I'm glad we didn't cave and go to Cafe Du Monde. The beignets were hot and flaky and not too sweet, and fluffy. Even had to wait a couple of minutes for them to cool down, but I... More

was our 1st beignet ever - awesome taste; also had the pig in a blanket, doubly awesome; just as good if not better than café du monde, without the wait; make sure to stop here, especially if you need to avoid the chaos

Went down to Cafe du Monde and their was a huge line. Came back to New Orleans Famous Beignets because there wasn't a line. I'm glad I did! Beignets were wonderful!

Hungry from walking all over the French Market. Cash only. I ordered a pigney and peach beignets. A pigney is a pigs in a blanket with beignet dough. Delicious. The peach beignets were fabulous. All items can be shared between two people or if a snack, three people. Coffee was only okay. Seating was nice and great for people watching.... More

I tried out the beignets here. Everyone goes on and on about Cafe Du Monde (which is good...won't take away from them) but these....oh myyy...they were so much better!!!!! Hot chocolate and apple juice are also good!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
