What a surprise. Some of the best food I have had in America. My friend and I shared a appetizer and a main course. The mix of flavour and textures were amazing. We had watermelon mojitos to drink and a eggplant, mushrooms with an oyster sous. And for Mains fish. Both was amazing. We had a drink at the bar... More

For tourists, it's well worth the quick streetcar jaunt uptown to this place. We ate here for special occasions when we lived in town and take friends here when we're back. The fried chicken is the BEST anywhere... you can never go wrong with it! And you can always add a piece of it together any entree for a minimal... More

Stopped in after being recommended by locals. We got there not too long after opening and were seated right away. By the time we left, the wait was about 30 minutes for a table. We started with the cornbread muffins and tried a sampling of the Fried Green Tomatoes, Duck and Andouille Gumbo and the Shrimp and Alligator Sausage Cheesecake.... More

Great find, food menu interesting. Service second to none, food was ok. I wasn't crazy about my food choice - pierogues- good just not what I thought it would be. Husband ordered stuffed pork chop and it was really good. Definitely would try again.

A big shock & surprise this time around, first time is a charm they say , & unfortunately this time wasn't ! Besides place being packed liked sardines, you could not hear yourself or even the waiter. You were on the persons lap next to you! Portions & Food were inconsistent in size, and ttaste. We made our reservations exactly 1month... More

We went early on a Saturday night (got there about 5:45) to avoid the notorious lines. FYI - It was still at least a 20 minute wait. I thought the food was fine, but not anything spectacular enough to go out of your way for. The Boudin Balls were definitely the best part, and the Jambalaya was great as well.... More

Old, tired, and out of the way restaurant with fabulous food. Upon arrival your not sure this place serves food. There is an old broken down pick up truck with a table and chairs in it's bed parked out front. You walk in the front door and are greeted then taken up a few stairs, through the kitchen, then to... I wanted to love this restaurant. The fried chicken was moist, and plentiful, but this is the south and I expected that. The sides were very good. The corn muffins to start with garlic butter were delicious. But they only made basic martinis, and for dessert, there were only two choices, and none of them chocolate. We took a cab... More

We were a big party of 8 and the service was impeccable. They all took care of us all from drinks to starters to giving the table complementary desserts. Food was divine and it was just a super fun and delectable evening. I highly recommend.

I went to Jacques Imo's with a group of 10 (all of us obnoxiously loud), and they put us in a side room where we were able to be our true, horrible selves. The service was amazing, the food was spectacular, and the waiter suggested all of the right things - don't be afraid to experiment! We had the alligator... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
