This is probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The menu is wonderful with so many choices. The side salads were very fresh and crispy. The bread they serve is fresh and hot. Everything is good. I have been there 3 times and have never been disappointed. The waiters and all the staff give excellent and... More

The atmosphere was lovely and the service impeccable. The food was great -- I liked it more than other food I had in the quarter. It was still on the heavy side for my personal tastes. Irene's was recommended by some people at a parade who return every year. I am glad I went here. But, I wish I had... More

We very much enjoyed our pre-race pasta dinner here at Irene's and found the staff to be very accomodating! There had been a mix up and although the restaurant did not have our reservation on their books (but a record of our call) they were able to get us in within a reasonable time frame!!

Irene's is usually our night before Thanksgiving go to spot because it is cozy, but not crowded or loud. The service is impeccable and the food...oh well it is scrumptious. The wine selection is fine as well. This year I had the Cioppino, oh my gosh it was as good as if not better than any I've had in San... More

We went to Irene's on the recommendation of a gentleman working at one of the antique shops on Royal Street. We were able to get a reservation for that night supposedly because someone else had canceled at 7 PM. We arrived for the reservation and the restaurant was packed. we had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for our... More

I love Irenes. Fabulous food, great ambience and friendly staff. My hubby and I come to the Big Easy about every two years from Canada, and we have dined at some of the best places in the city. The only repeat is Irenes, it's a must.

We dined at Irene's and loved it. My Mother and sister had been there previously, and we knew it would be good. They had a steak special that 2 sisters enjoyed, with different sides; both loved it. My mother and I had the fish which was served with mashed sweet potatoes, and my sister in law had the chicken. For... More

My friend ( visiting from New York) and I had the best dinner . He actually asked does New Orleans have any good Italian food? I immediately thought ok I'm taking him to Irene's. We were both thrilled with our dinners and had excellent service! He even said at least twice boy they're top notch in service and needless to... More

I know what you're thinking- you are in NOLA to experience and savor the flavors of creole/cajun country, except- this place has incredible food at disturbingly reasonable prices for the quality. With some excellently prepared Italian classics, like the meatball marinara appetizer, or fresh local seafood, like the whole red snapper, whatever you order is sure to please. Our group... More

As an ex-New Orleanian, I know Irene's is very popular with locals and would not recommend visiting without a reservation. The place has a rather limited menu, but everything I tried has been fine. The last time I went I had the paneed oysters and grilled shrimp to start and crevette as a main course. Our waiter worked hard but... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
