Shocking wine list. I've never seen a list this long. We even got a little peak into the cellar. Amazing. It looks much smaller from the outside and our walk through the kitchen seemed a bit odd. Wait staff was very good. The menu is impressive in that they don't have dishes seen elsewhere. The crisp romaine salad was really... More

Excellent food, ambience & staff. A perfect dinning experience. Stuffed Quail awesome as were all items we tried & guests at surrounding tables all exuded equal joy & satisfaction with their meals. Fun holiday spirit.

The service was terrible beyond belief. They poured wine in our glass, a Sancerre, instead of the burgundy we ordered. The waitress didn't apologize instead offered to refund us which they didn't. The other table didn't notice, not could we figure out who's bottle it was to tell them. Food, meh'. Don't go on a Saturday unless you want a... More

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Monday. We had reservations and when I called to make them, I was reminded of the dress code. We were in compliance with the dress code; however, some were not. Hubby was pouty about wearing nice pants and a sports coat when others were allowed to dine with jeans on.... More

If you've never eaten at Commander's Palace it is a must. The garden room was the perfect setting to express our appreciation to our client for their business and our team for getting things done. The service was excellent and all were well attended. If you can't choose between the turtle soup (house specialty), gumbo or soup du jour then... More

I couldn't have been more excited to spend our 10th anniversary in New Orleans. Despite spotty reviews, I was determined to dine at the infamous Commander's Palace. Even despite recently finding out a strange person I know had his prom there (that doesn't happen at a truly fine restaurant). We were greeted as soon as we walked in which led... More

This restaurant is a Must if going to NO. I went with family of 5 for lunch and it was a fantastic experience! Service and food was beyond expectation! The steak was the best I have ever had...ever!! The 25 cent martini was the icing on the cake...make sure you experience this restaurant once in your life!

Having visited the lovely city of New Orleans many times, we felt that we needed to try this venerable restaurant. We tried hard, really hard to enjoy it, but we were met with obstacles the entire time. Though there were lots of servers, we were the "invisible" people and very competently ignored, from water refills, to beverage offers to checking... More

The lunch specials are very good and more affordable than dinner. Our group of 4 ladies were greeted at the door with jingle bells to wear. We enjoyed the 25 cent martinis that are available in four different flavors. I enjoyed the melon one best. The pork lunch special was very tender. The gumbo was tasty, but it was unusual... More

I love going to restaurants with impeccable service and as expected the staff at Commander's Palace delivered with class. They provided complete attention to detail. The food was spectacular. My wife had the harvest salad and filet mignon. I had the soup trio and the grilled wild shrimp for my entree. The soup trio consisted of the soup du jour... More

Commander's Palace welcomes everyone but we do have a dress code. It's a festive atmosphere! Shorts are never allowed. Inventive modern New Orleans cooking coexists with our Haute Creole. Sense the team's professional grace clothed in the warmth of the Brennan Family's brand of hospitality. From your first sip of a Sazerac to your last crumb of bread pudding soufflé, we hope you are pampered and delighted...and go ahead be a little bad...that's what living in New Orleans is all about.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
