Very classy and exhibits the old NOLA southern lifestyle in meals. The restaurant does have a resident ghost who has their own seat and table in the back. Yes, your party can dine with the ghost but you must keep the seat vacant for your possible visitor. The restaurant has old photographs on the walls. Different styles of portraits, some... More

We have enjoyed dining and drinking at Muriel's several times in the past. This trip to New Orleans was no different. We visited the bar one evening and enjoyed some cocktails and then returned for brunch on Saturday morning. We were seated in the classy, colorful main dining room. Service was great even though things were extremely busy with large... More

Food was good, but the highlight of this place is the bar drink specials and the seance room. Mid-afternoon on a hot day walk back to the bar and ask for their drink specials. Take you $4 drink upstairs to the seance room for a cool relaxing time. We landed here several times when it got really hot.

A group of 13 of us were staying in NOLA and decided to all go out together on our last evening. Muriel's didn't disappoint, the service was excellent as was the food. Would recommend this restaurant.

We had a small wedding vow renewal ceremony on the balcony during the morning. This was before the restaurant was open, and the staff were incredibly professional and prompt in making sure we got re-hitched without a single hitch. We were able to have a photographer take several great shots throughout the many unique areas of the restaurant without any... More

We had dinner at Muriel's and had a lovely evening. We had a cocktail on the balcony before and after dinner while looking out on Jackson Square. Our dinner choices were the Shrimp and Grits, the Pan Seared Drum, and the Pork Chop and everyone was very pleased with their meals. The waitstaff was helpful and we met a nice... More

We ate here last night and were very pleased. Walked in at 6:00 without a reservation and were seated right away. I had the gumbo which was very good, not the best I had in NOLA but a solid offering. I had the shrimp and grits for dinner which was fantastic. My wife had filet which was a little overlooked... More

Excellent place to visit in New Orleans. Food and service are excellent. Food has more of a European emphasis and is well presented. Wine list also very good and well priced.

This is a great place to go for a romantic dinner. For $43 a person, you each choose a starter, entree, and dessert. You can also choose single items instead. It was a classy, elegant restaurant. Not so much that you feel uncomfortable though if you are going for a casual dinner. I wore jeans with a nice top and... More

Description
The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers New Orleans classics like Gumbo, BBQ Shrimp, Oysters "Muriel", Turtle soup, Fried Gulf Shrimp Po-boy, Crabmeat Imperial, Shrimp Remoulade & contemporary Creole cuisine like Pecan Crusted Drum & Wood Grilled Tuna while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks & appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer & The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic & checkered past. The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, & is the perfect spot for an intimate conversation & a drink amongst its plush surroundings.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
