Were staying about 2 blocks for Elizabeth's so decided that would be our first dinner out in Nola....glad we decided to go there. Funky décor, but we had a great waiter who made our dinner ever better, forgot his name. Oysters w/ blu cheese were so good my 9 yrs said they were delicious. Party of 6 had burger, shrimp... More

Elizabeth's is a little off the beaten track; it was a quick cab ride from our hotel in the Warehouse District. The menu is large and varied, the food is delicious, and the prices are surprisingly low. Service was low-key but friendly. The decor is fun. My only complaint was cleanliness--stains on the wall and what looked like dead roaches... More

The french toast burrito killed it. The country breakfast killed it. The hashbrowns killed it. All around yummy and fairly priced meal

First I love their coffee! It's PJ's and delicious! Second the praline bacon is off the chain and worth the drive! The bubble and squeak was delicious-the country bacon was amazingly good! The place is decorated in Dr. Bob art which they will sell. Staff was efficient and nice!

You have to try the catfish and grits breakfast! It was great. I actually ordered the chicken and waffles and my friend had the catfish, but I ended up trying hers and wishing I had gotten it instead. The guy next to me didn't like his duck waffle either, so maybe don't get waffles as they were pretty average. The... More

We landed and went straight here as we were unable to check into our AirBnB until 3pm; so we felt some brunch would be appropriate. Elizabeths had a fantastic menu (whether it be breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner) and we chose eggs and grits and Banana Foster stuffed french toast with Praline Bacon, I will repeat that PRALINE BACON!! Its... More

A little out of the way in the Bywater Neighborhood Elizabeth's is a must when visiting New Orleans. You'll either need to drive or catch a cab. This is not your typical restaurant...it is fun, funky, noisy....but it has amazing food - good southern cooking. The restaurant is small so be sure to call ahead for a reservation. The evening... This was my first trip to New Orleans and I'm glad that a friend suggested we stay in the Bywater. It's a colorful unassuming neighborhood that makes you feel welcome. I dug the working class feel of the establishments we frequented. Elizabeth's was one of those. Walls covered in bright "reclaimed" art pieces kept me busy while we waited as... More

We came here our first full day here for breakfast (Wed.). The praline bacon was not as good as I remember it being, so not sure what the difference is. Husband had pork chops and gravy/eggs and they looked great. I had conchon patties and eggs which were good. We returned a few days later for Saturday brunch so I... More

We stopped here for lunch, relying on high reviews' rates, and it was our best meal in New Orleans. We had two Gumbo, a Po' Boy and some chicken livers. Everything was so delicious that after one week we're still talking about that. The place is small, friendly, cozy, with colorful art on the walls. We also took the opportunity... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
