they were super busy, and the manager went out of his way to make our meal wonderful. The food was wonderful - creative, local and fresh. We loved the swordfish with green curry, shrimp and grits, crab and mushroom ravioli... everything was excellent!

My wide and I spent the Christmas holidays in New Orleans with two of our three children and partners. Our first evening out was dinner at Atchafalaya and it was terrific. The staff was welcoming and fun. The service was superb; cordial, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. The food was very good - a bit sweet and needed a bit more... More

We came here for dinner on a Friday night because we couldn't get a reservation for Saturday brunch. We were given a private room and loved the ambiance of the place! Our food was all really good, but didn't blow us away. Maybe brunch would have? The staff was incredibly kind, especially Tony and Yana. We would come back again... More

This place is a must stop in NOLA. The food was fantastic and there was plenty of it, the Bloody Mary bar incredible with your choice of homemade green tomato mix and we were entertained by Colin Lake. We'll be coming again.

We ate at Atchafalaya after Christmas. Got in early for our reservation. The atmosphere was really nice, a kind of elegant, rustic vibe. We went all out drinks, wine, apps, entrees and dessert. We all ordered different things. We got the snapper, swordfish, drum and the tenderloin special that was so tender it melted in your mouth. Each entree was... More

Came here for brunch to check out the hype, it's all true! Food was absolutely delicious. Had the Shrimps and Grits ... so good and definitely recommended. And ordered the Blue Cheese flan. Very delicate flavours, one can hardly taste the Blue Cheese, a bit more blue cheese would probably make a slight difference in flavour. Very impressed with this... More

We tried out this restaurant for dinner and it was delightful! The dishes we selected were excellent and the lady who attended to us was a delight. Highly recommended. It has a rustic, warm and cozy feel to it, we loved the interior design of the place.

I was there twice on my vacation. Not going would be a terrible mistake. Best Mary's and the food... this is my favorite restaurant by far. If you want a good surprise take the blue cheese dessert!

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
