I had the rice, beans and sausage for lunch. The posted picture is accurate of the food and restaurant. The portions were large and the food filling. The food was ok but I was expecting awesome and the food was not. The staff was friendly and the price was low for the amount of food. As a visitor to the... More

My wife and I had breakfast here last week while in town. She had heard about it somewhere, and it was close to our hotel too. We arrived about 9:30am to a full house, waited about 5-10 minutes for a counter seat and had a great visit. We ordered eggs with grits, ham, hash browns and biscuits and they were... More

Being the beginning of our 3rd week of our travel around the States, we stayed in a hotel across the road. I like to try places to eat where you can meet and experience the true locals of places. As our hotel did not include Breakfast, we went into Commerce. I was immediately greeted with a smile and a welcome and... More

We arrived at 10:30am after arriving into town. This was 30 minutes before the end of breakfast. The person who seated us assured us we could get breakfast, because we had arrived before 11:00am. It took awhile before we were waited on.They were out of half of the items that were on the menu for breakfast. So we opted for... More

The food is not anything special here. They were quite busy, so one of our entrees took about 10 minutes longer than the other. They started clearing my food away when I was still eating (my fork was on its way to my mouth) and then proceeded to wipe down and clear our tiny table while we were still sitting.... More

Found this restaurant right across from our hotel. The breakfast was really good. Grits the best I ever had and the bacon was thick and tasty. Came back for lunch, as I heard that their fried chicken is better than most famous places in NOLA. It was. Prices are really reasonable. Only one more thing to say. The staff are... More

We stumbled upon The Commerce Restaurant and were grateful. We were in NOLA for a week and ended up eating breakfast here 3 of the 5 days even though our hotel provided breakfast! Prices were very good, the food was excellent, staff was incredible. If I lived in the city this would be my go to place. In addition to... More

While on a business trip last week, had lunch twice here. Unfortunately they close early, otherwise would have also had dinner. Flavorful food, particularly the red beans and smothered chicken, favorably compares with my puertorrican flavors. Furthermore Ms. Cassandra, server and Mr. David, restaurant attendant, were the sweetest, warm and welcoming persons I met while in NOLA.

Breakfast under $10 per person including coffee. great find.. 3 doors from our hotel Q & C Bar Hotel Marriott

Based on the reviews I read, I expected the Commerce to be much better than it was for breakfast. The service was very good and friendly, food was served fast, and it was inexpensive but just okay. I think for the price it was a very fair value. I would certainly go back if in the area. It is definitely... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
