This is our third visit to Cafe Giovanni. We had been there 2 years ago. We were delighted that the food was as delicious as we remembered it. Their eggplant appetizer is a MUST! We have recommended this restaurant to friends visiting NOLA and they haven't been disappointed.

I had the fire-roasted drum fish with crab, artichokes, and mushroom over risotto. It was absolutely marvelous. My husband had the voodoo shrimp with grits and loved it. We also had the pancetta-wrapped asparagus appetizer which was good. Our waitress was excellent - knew the menu, gave good recommendations. We were too full for dessert and she recommended other sites... More

We really loved it. Such good service. Last night of our trip and we went out in style. Three opera singers, all amazing, and a pianist. Walked thru the tables as they sang. The kids loved it!

Best kept secret in New Orleans. Stumbled upon it because we had a taste for Italian. We were totally not disappointed!

When we arrived they seated us exactly where my husband had requested and the service was very attentive. They had just changed their menu from winter to spring thus did not have a dish I wanted but when the chef came by the table I asked him about it and he immediately went and made it for me(the cannelloni). I... More

Food was very good, I had the Fehttuchini Alfredo, one person in our group had the seafood salad (way to big to eat all of) and I don't remember what everyone else ordered but it was all great. I loved Kevin and his magnificent voice

Had a nice meal. Just wanted something that wasn't creole or Cajun. I had spaghetti and meatballs. It was OK. Surprised that they didn't make their own pasta and that they cooked boxed pasta too long... the opposite of al dente. The meatball needed some salt and seasoning as did the red gravy. Suggestion... add some fresh basil and good... More

My wife and I visited Cafe Giovanni on a Friday evening for dinner. We had reservations and got a window seat so we could people watch on Decatur street. Our server, Shaile, was excellent. We had a nice bottle of Italian Pino Grigio that was reasonably priced. I had redfish and my wife had short ribs. Both were excellent. We... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
