Gene's is the real deal. Tasty, fresh, huge po'boys and great staff. New Orleans food can be baffling to visitors, with delicious experiences available if you can figure them out. Po'boys are like that. So come to Gene's. It was early on a cold Martin...More

Pretty much as most others said, no frills po boys. Got the shrimp and the Philly roast beef. Really delicious stuff!

My goal in life is to have all of the good poboys in New Orleans before I die (hopefully not from choking on a poboy.) Gene's has a great one! It was a hard choice but I chose the fried shrimp poboy and boy I'm...More

You have to try this place when in NOLA, the hot sausage Po Boy was incredible. It's a little hole in the wall off of the quarter but worth getting to.

Not fancy, but delicious and cheap! Staff was nice and helpful. Had great coffee and the best biscuit, egg, bacon or sausage & cheese sandwich ever!

We were hungry and many restaurants in the area were closed or closing. Could not get anyone to answer the phone at Gene's, which was near our VRBO rental. We walked over. They had all the business they could handle. Totally understood why they weren't...More

We went on a late night. It's good. Fattening. On a side of town tourist don't know about. They give you a lot of what you came there for.

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining
