We ate dinner here one evening and had a great meal. I had the shrimp with roasted vegetables and jambalaya. This was the best food I had during our visit to New Orleans. We also had great service. We returned for lunch the next day and it was a different menu for lunch. I had a chicken breast sandwich. That... More

We were looking for something with a little local taste and didn't have much time so we decided to eat here since they didn't have a wait for dinner. We are in the outside seating and were able to listen to the live jazz music while we ate. We tried the New Orleans Sampler and crawfish etouffee. Everything tasted good... More

We had breakfast at Market Cafe after checking out other options in the French Quarter. The menu was typical of that we have found during our stay. It was a beautiful day so we dined outside. We had phenomenal service provided by Dimitri R. There was a breakfast buffet which was plentiful. Although we chose not to select the buffet,... More

This is a convenient place to eat with live music at times. Last time it was relatively cool so we ate indoors. The fried catfish was excellent but the service was very slow. The tables next to us turned around twice before we were able to get our food and eat so I don't know if it was just our... More

Nice location near the French Market and Decatur Street attractions with outdoor seating and musical entertainment. Service is slow. The food was average.

The catfish poboy was fresh and the bread was perfect for the sand which. The alligator sausage left a lot to be desired as it was the most expensive poboy on the menu but provided the least amount of meat.

Good food, swift service and as usual an excellent jazz quartet playing in the open air cafe. Clean wash rooms and a relaxing environment

The sound of live music drew us to the Market Cafe. After a morning walking tour this was a great place to stop to have lunch, rest our feet and enjoy some talented musicians. We ordered fried shrimp PoBoys and fries......they have the BEST French fries......the poboys had a lot of shrimp on them, but weren't very tasty. My husband... More

The breakfast buffet is amazing! Only $10.95 and all you can eat. They had biscuits, gravy, pancakes and syrup, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and bacon, and fresh fruit. Loved the open-air seating and live music. Felt like a true NOLA experience! Highly recommend!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
