Nice breakfast menu, well prepared. Staff was attentive and pleasant. Clean dinning room and quick service. Perfect stop while sight seeing in New Orleans.

I was not impressed with this place. I came here with 5 other friends late Saturday morning. We actually arrived just before they stopped serving breakfast (11am). There was not wait luckily, although Jackson Square was pretty crowded overall. The menu seemed promising and reasonably priced but the food itself just failed to deliver. Our waitress was nice but took... More

Went here with friends yesterday while sightseeing in New Orleans. I got the fried shrimp platter, which was supposed to come with a small salad. The shrimp were exteremly small and had not been de-veined. The steak fries were semi-warm and everyone at the table agreed they were fairly awful. My salad did not show up at the table until... Had a quick lunch (Club sandwich) and grabbed a sangria for the walk. Whoever made the blackberry sangria did an awesome job :)

There are a plethora of restaurants around New Orleans so there is no shortage of choice. Conveniently located not far from the Mississippi this was one we happened upon for no particular reason. The menu was slightly different offering a range of omelettes and other choices. The chili and cheese one was very large and certainly filled me up. Service... More

My 5 year old daughter take a drive in to New Orleans to go to the aquarium, have some beignets, or buy crazy sunglasses at the French Market. Cafe Maspero is a mainstay for us because it's cheap and delicious.

I have just about outgrown Café Masperos after about 20 years. Mostly on the menu is fried shrimp, fish and oysters with some jambalaya and creole options. Food is decent and waitstaff is good however. My sister's family loves it - and it is good for a quick good bite - nothing excellent about it. However, the food is not... More

For years, we've considered Cafe Maspero our first choice for lunch in the Quarter. We've enjoyed po-boys, fish platters, drinks, salads. This time it was disappointing to find that their prices have gone up and portion sizes have gone down. We'd requested a salad instead of fries with a fish sandwich, but when the salad came it was so meagre... More

I have eaten here many, many times. It has been a go-to for a quick, reasonably priced meal in days past. As an aside, it's a cash only restaurant. I ordered the gumbo and a chef's salad. There was so little gumbo in the bowl. The chef salad was $9 for a cereal bowl of salad. I was very disappointed... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
