atmosphere was like a chain restaurant. to theme oriented. I could have been at disney store that served ok food. the price of the meal was way to high. the waiter was not attentive. never asked if i wanted anything else. the saving grace was the bread pudding. that's why its just and average and not poor. Rent on Bourbon... More

First dish to sample is the Grilled Gulf Shrimp & Grits. I had this for lunch my first day in New Orleans. This dish was so good, I think I started to cry. The shrimp were plump, tender, and faintly sweet. The grits were THE Best Grits EVER!!! These were creamy, fragrant, and I promise you, the prettiest speckled red,... More

Leave it to me...I made the reservations for the wrong night! The hostess very nicely told me not to worry and seated us with only a short wait. Anthony, our waiter, was wonderful - attentive without being intrusive. The food was as good as the service. If I had to give a negative, it would be that it was very... More

Went in to the bar since the dining room was closed. My wife asked the bartender if there were any special drinks. He replied a drink is a drink. Crossed his arms and leaned back against the bar. We got up and left. I get people having a bad day, but really? Suck it up.

Nice menu with extensive seafood selection with local flavors. While a bit on the pricey side, food was well prepared and flavorful. Noise level high, so bring a strong conversational voice. Reservations also recommended, although they won't guarantee immediate seating. Proximity to Canal St makes this a great dinner choice if you're in a hotel on Canal St, and comes... More

Walking in the French Quarter with colleagues from a business conference, we stumbled upon Red Fish Grill, a name I was familiar with from NOLA news coverage. Amazingly, they had a break where they could fit everyone in. Four people ordered and loved the jambalaya; one enjoyed the drum and I thought the shrimp and grits were very good. My... More

We went met up here with some business friend before going to the Saints game. The food was Louisiana food and it was good We had barbecue oysters and alligator boudin balls for starters. I had the fried catfish and ettouffee and i highly recommend it.

What a surprise so close to my hotel. We had reservations which looked like they were necessary as it was pretty busy. Had a great waiter, Ike. Ask for him if you get the chance. The barbecued oysters should not be missed. The gumbo looked delicious, but I opted for the red bean soup, which was great. The red fish... More

We are not huge fans of Bourbon Street, but this classic is before you enter the booze zone. We sat at the bar and the staff was very attentive, engaging and interesting! We started with the house salad, it was fresh and the warm bread was light and fluffy. We ordered the wood grilled redfish and Louisiana crawfish tails. It... More

Happy Hour 3-6pm Monday to Thursday in the bar features Oysters for $.50 each and 2 for 1 drinks. The Bay oysters are HUGE! They are a meal in themselves but don't leave without having the double chocolate bread pudding. Dinner prices are expensive but the seafood looks good and fresh. Staff are great and the manager was sharing cooking... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
