We went in on a whim. The place we had planned on going was crowded so we stopped in to Estrella's. What a surprise. I had the breakfast sandwich and it was very good. One of the ladies had French toast and it was delicious. The biscuits needed a little work. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive.

I had the best meal of my trip here! This place was exactly what we were looking for with great live music, wonderful service and delicious food. The lobster bisque was to die for! I will for sure be coming back.

Food quality and service does not measure up to the pricing. They need to step up their game to compete with restaurants in immediate area. What should be hot food brought to table BARELY warm. Crawfish etoufee absent of crawfish. You only have one chance to make a good impression, especially in a culinary town such a New Orleans. FAIL.

Pros: Open on Christmas Day. Great, dark, divey Quarter vibe. Cons: More rice than beans. More rice with NO sign of crawfish in cold, soupy, tasteless crawfish etoufee. More rice than watery gumbo . . .which had not one morsal of seafood in it except for a lonesome little bitty crab leg. Now that's just strange. Salad came w no... More

OMG, the ribeye was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. I promise to get a steak that perfect there was some form of voodoo magic happening in the kitchen. This was probably the best meal I ate the entire time I was in New Orleans. The Gator bites were interesting since I have never had Gator before, and have nothing... More

I recommend this place. The food was excellent and the service was quick. We had the blackened poboy and the lobster bisque.... Made to perfection. No complaints in any way.

Good food; excellent filet. Poor service. No alcohol. Only 2 tables filed (not busy) and food took awhile. Waitress had an attitude. Bill was over $80 and she said she couldn't break a $100 bill. (Wasn't $20 in the drawer??) she auto put 20% tip on do she didn't care.

We stopped in for lunch as we saw they had alligator on the menu. My daughter and I each had gumbo and an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and the alligator bites. The menu contained the expected New Orleans fare, gumbo, shrimp, red beans and rice, etc. Unfortunately the gumbo was only slightly above room temperature which was a turn... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
