We went back to La Petite Grocery after having had a wonderfuL meal on a precious trip 3 years ago. The restaurant has not changed....it is still fabulous! We had the lamb shoulder confit for an appetizer that was unusual and very delicious. The swordfish and the duck breast specials that night were equally outstanding. This is not a quiet... More

The restaurant is lovely. The service was fine. I explained when we sat down that I am gluten-intolerant as well as being vegetarian and the server was helpful at pointing out what I could eat. After waiting a long-ish amount of time, I was presented with a grits and veg dish with a breaded hard-boiled egg on top. I asked... More

It was our son's birthday so we thought we'd splurge. I ordered the soup special which was cauliflower and mushroom..not a good pairing. I had the appetizer sized portion of the pork belly ravioli and I had to use a knife to cut the shells they were so tough. the waitress apologized to me for the ravioli but did nothing... More

Eaten at all the best in Nola, but this one wins the prize. Food was creative and interesting...and really freakin good. Service was really good and personable. Good recs on both wine and food. Had tartar, soup of day and soft shell crab special.

Friends recommended and glad we headed in! Wonderful service from start to finish. It was a hopping Saturday night. A lovely table was available but we opted for the bar and glad we did. The bartenders were both so skilled, charming and lovely - putting on a great show making the many beautiful drinks offered on the menu. The wine... More

This was our second visit there and we realized they have some issues. Each time we were there our entree came out as we were still chewing our last bite of our appetizer. The first time, our server immediately corrected it and re-fired our entrees. This last time not only was our food delivered too quickly, but it was not... More

This was absolutely the best meal of our trip. Every bite was perfect and the atmosphere is lovely. The scallops, oysters, and rabbit all got plates licked clean. Butterscotch pudding was a deceptively simple fabulous ending. Everything here is precisely executed and the flavors of the beautiful ingredients shine.

I arrived at the door before they opened to make a reservation for the following evening. The hostess was most charming opening the door and, cheeringly, made the reservation for us. The wait staff was excellent and cordial. 2 members of our party were a bit late, but that flustered no one. We enjoyed dishes with all local food including... More

The staff was really helpful and friendly. Of special interest was an Octopus appetizer. It was great. While there were four of us foe dinner, we tried each other's entres and all... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
