Despite being in the middle of Mardi Gras chaos with a parade outside the door, Luke did a great job. The staff appeared a bit frazzled, but the service was very good nevertheless. The waiter was a bit over the top theatrical but, what the hell, it's Mardi Gras. Great shrimp and grits, local seafood and crab, crawfish beignets, gumbo,... More

Our guests enjoyed the shrimp with jalapeño grits, burgers, and soups. Flavors were well balanced, portions appropriate and the service pleasant. Had raw bar here on another occasion and was equally as pleased with the visit. I'd highly recommend Luke's.

Nice staff, good intentions but there is something about the atmosphere that is very dull and uncomfortable for dinner (in the front room). Bright lights, no vibe, inconsistent service and shrimp that tasted made from frozen made this a very average experience. Bummer after so many exceptional meals in New Orleans.

This is one of the most authentic renditions of a French Brasserie in the US. Staff was ultra Professional, but in no way stuffy. We got there early, but were quickly able to get a seat at the bar for a wonderful cocktail while we waited. We were offered a table "Upstairs", but declined after seeing it was rather quiet... Semper Fi to Mr. Besh, This has to have been one of the finest meals and service I have ever had. Being a Navy vet I have had meals around the world and the meal I enjoyed with my daughter the evening of February 16th 2017 was top 3 in my life. I am at loss for our servers names... More

I don't know what the deal with this place is. Maybe the staff decided it was mess with the tourists day or something. Maybe they just wanted to see how much we would tolerate before I lost patience with them. My family (wife and mother) and I decided to try Luke for breakfast. We went at around 9am on a... More

Within walking distance of all the major hotels, Luke's is a gem of a restaurant. Great atmosphere, great service and great food!! After sipping on some Prosecco, my friend and I shared the Brussel Sprouts...amazing and I highly recommend. We both had the chicken which was very good as well - way too stuffed for dessert. Definitely worth stopping in!

Ate here on a Tuesday night during our NOLA vacation. Chose to do all apps as we were not that hungry. Had the Flamenkuchen and agnolotti which was a small portion, but delicious!! My partner had the Luke salad, which he enjoyed but seem to be presented upside down with all toppings on bottom and covered with large lettuce leaves,... More

We went here with 8 family members. Great place, loved the food. But we were a little unsure of what was German about the food. When we read about this restaurant on trip advisor it said there was American, French, Seafood and German. We could not figure out what about the restaurant was German. Great food though! A small-ish menu... More

Luke New Orleans is Besh's homage to the grand old Franco-German brasseries that once reigned in New Orleans. Luke offers an extensive French, German, and Belgian beer selection, including three exclusive house brews [custom-made in Louisiana]. The cuisine is unaffectedly Old World, using slow and traditional cooking techniques. The wine list features reds and whites from the Loire, Alsace, and Savoie regions, as well as Badischerwiens of Germany. Since opening in 2007, Luke has been hailed by Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and The Times-Picayune Lagniappe, which awarded Luke an impressive three bean-ranking for its "disarmingly home-spun culinary touches and broad-shouldered dishes that satisfy something more than just an appetit."

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
