This is a difficult review to write. I absolutely loved the location. It was by far the most scenic and enjoyable areas of our South Dakota trip. Take time to hike around the lake and if you can Sunday Gulch. Very beautiful. Drive needles eye highway for incredible views. We stayed one night in the older cabins and I must... More

We got there at the end of the season so they were putting away all merchandise but the staff was friendly

We stayed during Stugis Bike week. The cabin we had was brand new and had a few things still in the process of being completed. It was very nice at the top of a mountain. Laundry was at the bottom of the hill. Nice little general store. The lodge restaurant was expensive and not really worth the price. View and... More

The restaurant has very good dinner and breakfast menus. The dining room is spacious and the servers friendly and attended to our needs timely. The dinner is a little pricey, but very good quality.

Stopped for lunch and were able to sit out on the patio. The wait staff was very good and we included buffalo in our entrees.

My sister and I visited this restaurant at this beautiful location hoping for some excellent food for our lunch. We ordered toasted sandwiches which were barely toasted, and the "homemade" potato salad had the taste and texture of any deli potato salad I could purchase in a grocery store. We had to be on the lookout for all the flies... More

The views are outstanding and I felt right at home as a solo traveler. The menu is a limited selection menu. Very tasty and the serving portions are quite large. The hospitality of the staff was terrific. They remembered me at each meal. Definitely a great compliment eatery for a wonderful lodge.

Had three meals at the Sylvan Lake Lodge dining room. All were very good to excellent. The breaded walleye was fantastic as was the tomato bisque soup. Although menu has limited number of entrees, all we tried were very good to excellent including the gouda cheeseburger and the breakfast granola and fruit parfait.

We planned the day for Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. We started at 8:00am. The drive thru the park is amazing, stopping at the tourist center for an excellent movie on the buffalo. Drive around wild life loop to see burros and buffalo. Through the needles area of the park, wow. Then lunch at the restaurant at Sylvan Lake... More

Skip the walleye as I am not sure that it was walleye. A lot of the food was not that great except for the bison dishes. Salad was just a wedge of lettuce with plastic tomatoes. Breakfast was better and fresher. Service was always great however.
