Many would feel the cost to be a bit pricey but for under $100 you get a feast, cultural experience and a show which a bit of everything in Polynesia included. The activities, dinner and the show lasts for 3.5 hours and worth every penny. If you have a large family or group please call and ask for group rates... More

Since last time we were there. Really liked the presentation this time. The fish was moist and had a great ginger flavor. The place is not inexpensive but the food is very good. Service was okay.

We had a large party of people attending this event. My wife has celiacs so need very special dietary needs. We were told repeatedly verbally and over email that they would be able to meet our needs. When we arrived the staff was clueless on what to do. While they do offer gluten free options it is only for people... More

Aloha, We apologize for the experience you have described and have taken the opportunity to review our policies and procedures related to your wife's dietary restrictions. While we do offer GF items at the buffet line, we do exercise caution and great care when preparing specially ordered dishes. Perhaps, we did not receive a full detail of the restrictions needed... Sometimes you are concerned that a luau might be hokey. I can assure you that this one was not. The food was on the upper end of the luau scale and the performance was a tour of the islands through music and dance.

My 3 children enjoyed this very much for their first luau experience. A nostalgic visit for my husband and I as we had spent are honeymoon at the hotel 17 years ago and attended the luau then also. Pre luau activities were good my girls all enjoyed getting a tattoo, playing games with the entertainers, and learning the hukelau. Food... More

Aloha, Thank you for returning after all these years to bring your children back to a place where you celebrated an important occasion and the lu'au. It was very nice to hear how much you all enjoyed the event. I was sorry to hear about the mix-up with the seating arrangements. Perhaps next time, it would be a good thing... More

Our friend forced us to go to a Luau as a writ of passage when visiting Hawaii. Naturally we agreed. Upon entering the hotel, we took the standard photograph (that they later try to sell you) and proceeded to check-in. They could not located our reservation and told us the night was sold out. We showed them our confirmation and... More

Aloha, We appreciate your frank comments about your lu'au experience. Perhaps if you hadn't felt so compelled to attend, things would have been different. We realize a lu'au experience is not for everyone, especially if one is not familiar with the cultures. The mai tai punch served doesn't contain alcohol because it is available for young children to enjoy as... More

I inquired several times about the luau's ability to serve celiac-safe food and was assured in email and verbally that the kitchen would prepare a separate gluten free plate, rather than just having to choose gluten free dishes from the buffet. Prior reviews were not favorable, but staff told me that their policies & menu had been adjusted in the... More

Aloha, I apologize for the circumstances you described and will be talking personally with our Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef about your comments. We do offer celiac free options to our guests and our staff should have been more attentive with you. Again, my deepest apologies and we will work hard to correct this misconception. Thank you for... Attended this luau tonight with my wife and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it. Going into the Courtyard Marriott (where it is located) I figured it to be a fairly routine buffet and show with performers just going through the motions....NOT AT ALL! The performance was fantastic, telling a very cool story... More

Food, location, ambiance and the dancing group were excellent! I am not an expert on Polynesian traditional dancing but the performance was very enjoyable including dances from different islands in the pacific.

The dances were enjoyable to watch. As for the food, it was an okay buffet, definitely not as good as just going out for a nice dinner. The punch bowls of MaiTais have no alcohol in them because they can't control who drinks from them; you need to stand in line to have rum added to your drink. And with... More

Description
Guests of the Island Breeze Luau will be amazed with a display of authentic Polynesian activities, cuisine, and performances.

Island Breeze Luau, located in right on the edge of the ocean of the King Kamehameha Hotel is rated the best lu'au on the Big Island by kama'aina (local residents)visitors and travel writers. The luau begins with a lei greeting and picture taking. An open bar, arts and crafts await you. The imu (traditional underground oven) ceremony, is also a part of the exciting beginning to your Island Breeze ohana (family). There are many ways to participate in the luau activities: weave a coconut frond, learn how to open a coconut, learn the art of hula, get a Polynesian tattoo, and take the time to meet and talk to some of the performers.
