Can't comment on the food, but a great location overlooking the waterfront of Kailua town, on the outcrop on the southern end. You can't be a Tiki Bar lover without knowing about the history of Don The Beachcomber, along with Trader Vic's, Kon Tiki, etc, etc. Sit at the bar out on the end of the promontory and soak up... Great out door bar area. If you go on a Tuesday for sunset you get to watch the hula show by the pool area as well .

One of the great places for ocean-front seating to watch the awesome sunsets in Kona! Have great food too!

Don's is our favorite place to go for happy hour. They have the best Mai Tai's. The bar is right on the lava rocks & the ocean. A beautiful place to sit and enjoy the drinks and view.

Birthplace of the Mai Tai, but don't stop there. They have a wide array of drink options and some good appetizers as well. We loved the view from the bar.

Don's is all about its location, which is superb. Great views west onto the ocean and the setting sun. Really magical. We ordered two house specialties, a man tai and a zombie, and there probably was some alcohol in there somewhere amidst the fruit but it was difficult to detect. We weren't planning on getting drunk, but for $15 a... More

The drinks, food etc are what you would expect. However, the location and vibe of the hotel is very special. For that reason alone you should go.

We love to stop by here and watch the sunset a few times while we're in town. This time the service was really slow and the quality of the food seemed to have changed from previous visits. The location can't be beat, but there are a lot of other locations that have better, more properly executed menu choices and more... More

You wrote a review for Don The Beachcomber 23 hours ago 2.0 star rating 3/10/2017 Gave it a two only for the view. This is NOT Don The Beachcomber of old. Someone bought the name only and not the quality I now find out. We had a reservation to which we were on time for. Waited 10 minutes to be... More

We happened to visit by chance and had the greatest time! Beautiful location right next to the surf for the perfect sunset. Great Happy Hour prices and amazing entertainment with famous slack key guitarist Ledward Kaapana playing just feet away from us. An evening I won't forget !
