This is a great brunch/lunch place near Volunteer Park. It's frequently crowded with a line out the door, tables are communal. People tend to linger a bit but once you get seated, so will you. The food is done well, the protocol for how to order, where to when, when to sit not quite clear but everyone seems to figure... More

I have been going here for breakfast for years. Lovely old neighborhood store now turned into a restaurant. It has been on my to do list to eat dinner here for a while, but finally got around to going for my anniversary dinner. This was the best meal I have had so far this year! Quite delicious! Having just eaten... More

Cool farm-to-table style place with a solid beer selection (Pelican Kiwanda Cream Ale was stellar). All the food was delicious - especially the hollowed out pumpkin dish. The staff were friendly but the service was pretty slow. They weren't exactly amped about having kids come in but I don't blame them...

For me it was thumbs up for baked goods and thumbs down for atmosphere. After exploring Volunteer Park, the cafe offered a good nearby break. We had baked goods and coffee, both were excellent.. The music was loud and they kept the front door open even though it was chilly out so I had to keep my jacket on while... More

Cheerful, friendly service. Offers a gorgeous selection of homemade pastries and a variety of sandwiches, salads and quiche. Overall, a pleasant spot for a satisfying meal. Our cafe lattes were tasty and served with artful heart swirls. What you should know: - order and pick up your items at the counter. - pastries and breads are a feast for the... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the staff at the Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park. Menu was limited. We ordered two quiche plates, pulled pork sandwich, and chicken noodle soup with matzo balls as well as a pumpkin cake. All was delicious but on the expensive side. Plan to spend around $15/ person for a light lunch. The... More

This cafe is in a great location and has great ambiance, being located in an old grocery store. The neighborhood it's located in is great for strolling around admiring the houses. The food is good but very overpriced. The staff also isn't the friendliest. A salad, a sandwich and two cokes cost $40 (with tip).

Welcoming, chatty atmosphere, smart, friendly staff, gorgeous food. Special orders (allergies, etc.) aren't a problem; the fresh vegs are grown right outside; great neighborhood place.

Volunteer Park Cafe (VPC) was one and one-half blocks from the house where our family stayed so it was very convenient. Ate lunch once; breakfast once; countless trips for coffee, muffins, and cookies. Grand daughter loved the blueberry muffins and I would wholeheartedly agree. Lunch was sandwiches...great taste...but 'spendy' as the kids might say. Sandwiches are on the order of... More

Had the chicken ceasar and chevre salad. Boyfriend gave 3/5 for ceasar but the chevre salad festured a tiny lump of chevre and a bunch of hazelnuts.. the rest was lettuce. Left hungry and 31dollars poorer having had only tap water with the food. You can do better.
