Excellent, affordable French Restaurant. We had options but chose to go back each night, this says it all. Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and delicious wine and food.

We went here when our usual restaurant in the vicinity was closed. The restaurant is modern cuisine, so don't expect a big side of frites with your main course. However the food was absolutely delicious served by friendly bilingual staff, and the house red was totally acceptable.

Tucked away just around a corner from historic Saint-Mere-Eglise center is a wonderful, traditional French restaurant. It is an old stone building from another era, and stepping inside you will feel like you have traveled back in time. The hostess is charming as she greets you in French and leads you to the dinning room. It is small by American... More

Wow what a great choice for our last night in France. Last year we stayed in St Mere Eglise and could not get into this restaurant, now we know why. The welcome is great and both the food and wine are exquisite. I had the rack of lamb, my wife had veal and our daughter Turkey as main courses all... More

This was our first meal in France and it was wonderful! The staff was very welcoming and worked hard to make sure you are happy. The wine list is full of variety as well. I had the veal which was prepared quite well. Cooked just right. The prix fix menu has several excellent options. The location is easy to find... More

Normandy Battle Tours suggested this restaurant to us. We went with one of the pre set menus. The menu is translated into English so we had a good idea of what we were about to eat. Yum! Authentic French cuisine and fairly affordable. We had the £30 meal and a bottle of wine and it came out to £80. Not... More

I'm pretty confident there aren't any better authentic French restaurants within an hour's drive of this great Saint-Mere-Eglise restaurant, right in the heart of Normandy. Many traditional restaurants we've visited in smaller French towns over the years have tended either to be rude toward non-natives or to be tourist-focused but with lesser-quality food. The Auberge le John Steele was neither,... More
