We were lucky to find this true gem about a mile from our hotel in Anchorage. It has a great feel. People working there seem true to be happy doing their jobs. It's a very cozy place with great window seating. The bakery items did not disappoint ! Delicious! We were in town two mornings and we went there two... More

Went there for breakfast and enjoyed wonderful scones and croissants. Since we were first timers we also received a free cookie straight from the oven. All the food was amazing and the coffee is great, too. Great atmosphere with fresh flowers on the tables. Warning: the coffee is excellent but you can't get espressos there--only straight black coffee. :)

Walked here with friends. Loved the birdseed bar and Moroccan mint tea. Niceties include tiny vases of fresh flowers. Families, buddies ... folks of all ages come and go. Vegan options-- yay!

Stopped in one afternoon for cookies and pastries and coffee. Quaint atmosphere in the middle of the neighborhood was delightful. Food was excellent, staff (albeit young) was very hospitable.

Remember the olden days when bakeries baked like home baking? Well, we have one! The breads take like real bread: flavor, body, substance. The chocolate is not merely brown. It is chocolate. The peanut butter cookies melt in your mouth. The chocolate cupcake is the best cupcake in the whole wide world. The Challah bread reminds me of New York.... More

While they have a LOT of great items, we always come for the peanut butter cookies, and of course leave with those and something else.

Very cool to learn that one of the head bakers here was nominated for a James Beard award! We stopped in around 11 on a Thursday morning and were surprised to already find some of the daily items were sold out. We settled on the savory scone with ham and chèvre and a fruit scone with rhubarb and blackberry. They... More

I have been buying cakes at Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop for about the past year. Their cakes are excellent, hand made creations that never fail to receive rave reviews whenever we serve them to our friends and family. I was always told to have one of their scones but whenever I was there to buy a cake they were sold... More

This is a must stop if you're making a trip to Anchorage - if you like very good quality baked goods: breads, scones, cookies, muffins, rich cakes... and other local made goods like sauerkraut, pickled beets... My favorite breakfast go to item is the vegetarian breakfast sandwich. That sandwich would make your taste buds dance if they could. I've also... More
