Just loved the owners. How sweet and welcoming they are. The food was delish. Like being transported when you walk thru their door. A real gem.

This place was a wonderful surprise. Inside this unassuming building is an intimate grouping of tables, owned by a husband and wife who cater to you with care. While the husband cooked up the fresh fish just a few metres away, the wife banted with...More

Often Japanese resturants are in name only. Yamaha is a real gift offering authentic meals with gifts for your palette. I had the broiled salmon dinner. It was served with a small introductory lettuce ,followed by tasty tofu miso soup. The salmon was served with...More

Yamaya is a downtown favorite of mine. I live only a few blocks away, but don't get there as much as I would like. The sashimi was expertly handled. The udon is hot and tasty. Writing this review is making me hungry.

This is a small restaurant where the daughter makes the recommendations and dad is behind the counter. We chanced upon it and were glad we went. The cooked food - particularly the tofu - is definitely worth trying, besides the fresh and tasty sashimi. Wait...More

Small family run operation, great food. Ramen broth is spot on. Feels like you're in one of the small shops in Tokyo.

Service was fine - as well as can be offered. It's a mom & pop (& daughter) shop & it certainly feels like so. It's homey & very casual. Loved the steamed spinach (must order if you like spinach), it's full of umami flavor. We've...More

We tried almost the entire menu in a span of several visits in 2 weeks. The ambiance and food were superb. I feel like I could eat here everyday. The cook's passion for creating a special meal shows in all of the dishes and I...More

Most main course dishes will run between $9 and $20 depending particularly on the type of seafood ordered. For instance, the eel is more expensive than chicken.
