Stopped by Tupelo for dinner recently. Service was very friendly, kitchen cranked out dinner quickly, good music piped into dining room/bar area. Ordered the fried chicken with jalapeno mac & cheese, collard greens, cole slaw and cornbread with sweet tea. Chicken was cooked perfectly as were the sides. A hefty portion for the price, so go hungry!

We saw this on DD&D, and just had to visit. We were there for brunch. We couldn't make up our mind so we went crazy. We ordered the gumbo, the biscuits and gravy, the cheesy grits and the applewood bacon. The cheesy grits were absolutely my favorite but it was all exceptionally good. They also had brewed tea. Such a... More

We stopped at Tupelo during the Boston leg of our New England road trip, having seen them on TV. For Europeans (Brit and German), the southern cuisine was a great new experience. The atmosphere is mellow and relaxing, I really liked the lay out for such a small place. The beer selection is impressive and looks like its regularly updated.... More

Nicely set up space with fun ambience. Started with cornbread, German pilsner, and an arugula salad all outstanding. We both got the fried chicken. I loved the chicken, but hubby thought the chicken breast he had was a bit dry. Mine was fine. The jalapeño mac'n cheese was also real good. However, the collards were vinegary, as was the slaw.... Place was half full and there were only two servers on but we were still helped right away - girl we had was friendly and attentive. Super relaxed place to hit when you want some killer comfort food. Had the fried chicken with mac n cheese, greens and some kind of pickled turnipy-type mix. I would do horrible, unforgivable things... More

They start you off with delicious corn bread and it just gets better. The braised pork belly was delicious and the hangar steak was scrumptious. The sides were okay (I'm not big on lime used for flavoring but my Peruvian wife LOVED it). In fact, my wife commented to the waiter about how similar the braised pork belly is to... More

As southerners visiting Boston, we were really looking forward to testing the southern food here against what we are used to back home in SC. The service and environment were superb! We enjoyed the beer selection a lot, as well as the cornbread, grits, and jalapeno mac & cheese. The fried chicken wasn't as great as what we get down... More

We had dinner at Tupelo. The trout was fantastic, the ribs were a bit spicy, which is ok, but it's better if they tell you before. The service was nice. The food was served quite fast. We got a table without a reservation, which is something rare in Cambridge. Overall a nice experience.

Had a wonderful dinner here, really affordable for what you got. The Cajun Gumbo and the Vegetarian Gumbo are awesome. The Beer Battered Crepes were great also. The service was good, and friendly. Would certainly return the next time I am in town.

Tupelo has a cozy atmosphere in addition to great food. There are few places that serve southern food in the Boston area. To find one that does it well AND with great ambiance is a find.
