Der Biergarten in downtown Atlanta offers traditional German pub/gasthaus fare in the Georgia Aquarium-World Congress Center-Phillips Arena area, along with a good selection of German beer. I had the rinderouladen, a marinated beef dish with pickles and gravy with a side of pickled red cabbage. (I substituted traditional tangy German-style potato salad for the mashed potatoes and was very satisfied).... More

I am originally from Belgium and am always skeptical when I find a German restaurant in a US metropolis, but Biergarten certainly does not disappoint and delivers on its promise of being authentic. The atmosphere in the main dining room is truly German and a throwback into Bavaria. The backroom resembles a German "Bierhalle" with its long community tables. We... More

I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my brother. Being that my Mother is from Germany, we were both very excited to find a good German restaurant in Atlanta. This restaurant does NOT serve authentic German food. The potato pancakes were so greasy, they were inedible. It seemed as though they took frozen pancakes and dropped them... More

Fun little taproom with a European flair, lots of beer selections, good food but mostly of the fried variety, live music, and laughter - lots of laughter!

Here on business. It's short walk from the convention center to grab some Spaten, bratwurst and sauerkraut.

I dined at five when they opened and it was not busy at that time on a weekday. My $16.00 meal consisted of two thick pieces of beef with gravy, red cabbage, and cucumber salad-all tasty and filling. Meal delivery was quick and the female server was able to offer beer recommendations. There are quite a few stairs up to... More

My husband and I were staying at a hotel across the street and wanted to stop in to this charming biergarten (if there is such a thing- this is it). It wasn't supposed to open for several hours, but we were delighted to find that due to customer demands (like 9) they opened early for a soccer (football) match. The... More

So this review is based on the beer and atmosphere as we did not eat here. Middle of a Saturday while exploring around Olympic Park. Great selection of German beers on tap. Bartender made my wife a rum and blackberry punch drink as she does not prefer beer. Great atmosphere and would expect this place to be packed for televised... More

Description
Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.
