Don't let the name steer you wrong. This is not mamas southern cooking. This is upscale southern cooking. Fried chicken was excellent. My side dishes were cold. I mentioned it to the server and the side dishes were returned piping hot. The corn bread and rolls are delicious. This restaurant is good but a little expensive. I would not bring... More

I was looking for Southern cooking and found it! Real cornbread and biscuits at the table. My husband had the brisket sandwich on what appeared to be homemade bread, loved it. I had shrimp and grits with ham. Definitely their own version, delicious. I enjoyed the fact it's in a house. Beautiful decor.

Grits, venison, rabbit, fried green tomatoes, bbq shrimp, stuffed pork chops. What a great combination for dinner! This place has a cool vibe and the execution of the food was superb. Go... absolutely go.

Came here for a business dinner. I was with a large group from all over the world. I have to say that the "souther" cooking id not very popular with the international crowd so I would keep that in mind. I really enjoyed the meal and recommend. Great biscuits and cornbread. I also had the she crab soup (very good)... More

This was our first visit, and we wanted to try several menu items, so we shared everything. Fried green tomatoes with the goat cheese were very good. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, and the accompanying collared greens were delicious. The shrimp and grits was the least favorite overall for us, although the grits were very tasty. The shrimp just... More

You will not be let down by anything on the menu. The service is excellent. It's in an old house. Has a small restaurant feel. MUST DO IN ATLANTA.

busy location, make reservations, the house specialties are excellent. The Fried Chicken was fabulous, the appetizers were great - The trout crostini - Amazing noisy but it fits with the ambiance - Staff was excellent, the hostess ran outside and chased down a taxi for us after the meal - wow, that's above and beyond!

The customer service was very good. I ordered the Thyme Lemonade that the waiter said was on the sweet side but found it bitter and unappealing. The barbecue shrimp appetizer was delicious. My crab cake was bland and lacked seasoning. The Wheatberry salad was bland. The pecan pie was overlooked with a charred taste. The Banana Bread Creme Brûlée would... More

I have been there a few times. They have this place organized. Everyone knows there job to be pleasant, attentive, and quick. The food is fab. Always the right temperature, excellent palate experience and ample portion for a probable take home. On open table and takes reservations for lunch(preferred) as Midtown fills up fast from the surrounding offices. Must visit.

Description
Celebrating over 18 year as one of Atlanta's favorite restaurants, South City Kitchen Midtown specializes in contemporary Southern cuisine with a sophisticated twist. Combining the energy of Atlanta with the warmth of a Southern home, the restaurant is nestled in an updated, historic bungalow on the city's famous Crescent Avenue. Dine on local Southern favorites such as shrimp and grits, buttermilk fried chicken, she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and banana pudding while enjoying the view of our exhibition kitchen or the city skyline on one of the best patios in the city. This truly is dining the way the new South intended.
