Although you will pay slightly more for your drinks than in some other places the huge selection of delicious tapas served with every round make it all worthwhile. This restaurant has been going for years and always is a fun place to visit. Adored by ex pats the service is excellent.

Follow the promenade west almost as far as you can and you will find this unpreposing place in the shadow of a large hotel. Friendly welcome from the staff. On ordering a beer a tapas of tuna and advocado quickly arrived. We noticed a regular stream of tapas coming out to the tables, all looked tasty. We ordered mussels off... More

Introduced to La China by some local expat' friends. Very friendly welcome and obviously enjoy having a regular expat trade. The tapas is of excellent quality and wide variety to suit all tastes. The beer is very cold and the house wines are well worth sampling!! Very comfortable and homely atmosphere with seating both inside the restaurant and outside overlooking... More

If you are prepared to wait free tapas appears with every drink.. it was all good particularly the garlic prawns. We went on to order lunch and some huge plates of food arrived. On balance the food is only average, but it was a fun place to be for a couple of hours.

We went here as we were impressed with the reviews and I wanted to test the tapas! We ordered a round of beers (3) and a water and were rewarded with a plate of fried fish with aioli... very nice Getting into our stride, we ordered a bottle of house white (a good choice) and more tapas followed... a prawn... This restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but the inside, staff and food are great. I had their "special" fish and it was so good and tasty.

We walked the full length of the promenade in order to find La China (The Pebble) and were not disappointed. They make a splendid Sangria and the tapas are tasty and generous - well worth the walk!

We have been in Almuñécar over a week and have eaten in some lovely restaurants. Tonight we went to La China on recommendation of a friend, and it's only downstairs. We ordered drinks and our first Tapas arrived and started to eat it, when we were offered hot bread and pâté. When we ordered our main courses Chicken in Garlic... More

Joachim, the owner is a unique patron. He enjoys interacting with his cosmopolitan clients. The tapas are always an amazing surprise and come unbidden with a drink. I've been visiting for years and love the idea of recommending him and his friendly bar/restaurant.
