Ours was a winter visit as we knew the Curry Nights had begun for winter. We had 3 choices and decided on the butter chicken. The meat was generous the sauce spicy and delisious. it was a generous portion so as we were taking away it was sufficient both for my 12yr old and myself. we didn't have to wait... More

Went to Manaia on vacation with my daughter. The wood fire pizzas were about the best I have ever had. Also, the large NZ mussels (local) were incredible. Service and atmosphere was nice and friendly.

My wife and I have frequented Manaia on a number of occasions including many times with our kids over the past three years and as a result we've got to know the owners and their team. I'd be lying if I said we've always had an amazing dining experience. Andrea the brains behind the operation and the team have from... More

Standard slipping away sadly... We have visited this venue on numerous occasions over the last few years and have always found the food and service reasonable and even at times good, but recently we noticed a serious drop in the quality. The last straw was on our last visit when the pork belly was virtually raw..!! We just could not... More

The service was very slow, but the food is worth the wait. The pizzas were really very good and offered some unusual combinations of toppings.

Went there for dinner on Sunday night. Food was nice. Rocket salad was very good. The open fire was nice to warm up especially after the rain

Ordered peri peri chicken burger, food Came Out doesn't look like menu description and doesn't taste good! My partner ordered Meat wrap which had only 2 thin slices of ham inside. Had very sore tummy after that and felt really sick !! Probably the worst meals ever had in Tairua.

We arrived without a reservation and were told we'd have at least a half hour wait to be seated as it was extremely busy. However, we were offered the option of waiting at the bar with drinks and entrees which suited us perfectly. We had the calamari which was divine! We really enjoyed sitting at the bar; all staff were... More

On way to Thames with my elderly mother we hoped to make a quick stop for a late lunch (1.45pm) Wednesday. Magnificent Mediterranean Lamb salad (beautifully rear lamb) with huge salad of roasted pumpkin/beans/capsicum/feta. Devine!! Mothers chipotle steak sandwich was perfectly served with awesome chips!! The chipotle requested on the side was not too overwhelmingly hot so great for young... More

Tairua has a range of cafes and bars. Manaia is a fixture which wax once variable in quality. Now, Andrea is transforming Manaia with changed menus, including the striking and very acceptable vegetarian platter - shades of Ottolenghi - and the very cool pizza oven, staffed over summer by a charming young Italian. The coffee is strong. Good value across... More
