Went after dance practice with my husband and a few of my girls...the waitress Brittany was attentive, friendly and a pleasure. The food was outstanding...worth every penny! We got steaks and salads...excellent, excellent, excellent! Do try the bone marrow they often have available..it's delicious and great for you. Next time, we're ordering two because it was too tasty to share.... More

Yeah, I know it's in an old historic building in an alley in downtown Macon Ga and that is part of the charm. But, there are other places in that area that have been updated inside a bit while retaining the charm of an old building. I don't think the carpet has been changed in 30 years. There is paint... We have made many trips to the Downtown Grill for special events like birthdays, anniverseries, or just a special date night. The food is always excellent, and there are many selections to choose from. There are nightly menu and drink specials. I have never been disappointed by a meal or the service that we have received. The food is fresh... More

The location did not bother us but the smokers in the bar did. Fortunately, the food made up for it. We began with a cocktail at the bar while we waited for our table. The wait was brief and the drink was good. Once seated, we split an appetizer and we split a caesar salad. Note, order your own caesar.... More

Service was poor and inattentive, food lacked seasoning, the decor is dated and dinghy and they are overpriced. Other than that it was a good meal Was here with a client and some coworkers. I ordered the center cut ribeye - while cooked properly it had absolutely no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. The green beans were okay (at least they... More

If you're an out-of-town visitor to Macon, just there overnight to see a touring musical, Downtown Grill is not easy to find. You walk down an alley (--the map says "Lane," but it's really an alley), past a Korean pizza place and a Japanese café (closed already that evening), to reach the old two-story brick building which is now Downtown... This place has character - it's been around for decades. The food is very good, suggest the bone in ribeye. The front lounge always cigar smoking. Gregg Allman history. Classic place with great food and service!

Came her for our anniversary and was very impressed. Had the center cut Ribeye, baked potato, grilled broccoli, and cheese grits. Food was very good and so was the service. Make a reservation. Valet parking... Very pricey $$$$$

I read mixed reviews about this restaurant, so I was apprehensive initially. The restaurant is literally well hidden. It is in an historic building in an alleyway near Mulberry and Cherry Streets. As others have said, you walk through a smoking bar to the dining room; but that is not an unpleasant experience. Neither does the smoke smell continue into... More

The downtown grill is an English Steakhouse that specializes in prime cut Black Angus steaks, fresh pasta dishes, fish fillets and decadent desserts. This fine dining restaurant also features a well stocked bar that includes a vast array of scotches and bourbons. We also offer an extensive wine list by the glass or by the bottle and a large oak cigar humidor.
