My wife and I would go to Flying Star Almost every weekend when we lived in Albuquerque until 2003. We loved the food and the atmosphere. It was eclectic, and they cared about things we cared about - natural, local, diverse choices. I would get Huevos Rancheros and she would get blueberry pancakes or french toast, and sometimes at dinner... More

This used to be THE place to go on Central - the food was fresh, tasty and healthy and the atmosphere was eclectic and interesting. It still retains some of this flavor, but it is not as well kept, or well visited. Still, it is a great place to have breakfast or lunch.

Every time we come to ABQ we have to stop at Flying Star. Their food is delicious and atmosphere so fun. My 10 year old son loves the quesadillas and chicken strips. I had the Buddha bowl, which was amazing but it's also so much food. So come hungry. Their desserts are also delicious, so be sure to leave a... More

Nice fast casual with a good patio. Had friends bring us here. They have a broad menu, very nice looking salads and NM dishes. I had the fish tacos. They were excellent, with cod. They can do several gluten-free options.

It's hard to come to Flying Star and not have one of their great desserts but needed a quick lunch. The smaller size burger cooked to order was great and the French fries fresh and salty, sad I had leave most of them! They need more smaller sized meals and goodies, then they would be perfect!

Title says it. Last weekend in ABQ for business. On my way to the airport stopped at Flying Star for a very late breakfast (2:00 p.m.) of excellent green huevos rancheros. Love that they serve breakfast all day plus pretty much anything cafe style you may want. Of course their baked goods are to die for. Lively atmosphere, always, crowded.... More

Absolutely loved the Southwest Benie with just the right amount of tasty green chiles, perfectly cooked eggs and a cheesy mushroom sauce. Best breakfast I've had in a long time. The all-you-can-drink coffee was also very, very good (a Nicaraguan blend on that day). Service was excellent, but there weren't many people there that early either. My friend had an... More

We walked in and immediately loved the decorative millennial vibe and wide food selection. However, we were served by a really unapproachable, irritable server. His name is Hawk. He rolled his eyes and did not smile. He was impatient and unattentive. When we asked "could we add another slice of cake to our order" he did not make eye contact... More

Colorful coffeeshop, young audience. The espresso coffee was very good, not top, but above average. We tried the Chocolate-Orange-Muffin – yummy!

We met some friends here to visit and chat, and this is a really good place for that. We were all able to order at the counter and pay separately, and there was plenty of room to find seats together. The food as usual was very good, and their desserts are excellent. They have a big selection of different things... More

Description
We created Flying Star because we needed fresh, tasty coffee served in a bottomless cup, comfy seats with casual, competent service that didn’t get in your face. Most of all, we wanted a place where dessert was first and the food was something you could really get your taste buds around. And, we needed it served from early in the morning to late at night on every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas. It would be a place where we could go to be alone or have a good chance of running into friends. That was 1987 and we’re still cooking and baking 24 years later.
